New From NJ

Hey All...Thought I would join up, and drop a line to introduce myself. I am Mario, 28, live at the Jersey Shore, a systems admin, and have actually only been flying since January, but have progressed very fast "by what instructors and other seasoned pilots have told me". Gave up on the trainers a few weeks back when I finshed my H9 Showtime 50. Currently has a Saito .82 and flies decient. I think I have a issue with incidence though, but I'll leave that up to another post.

Ran across a mint condition GP 25% Giles G-202 and picked it up. It has a Saito 1.80 in it thats brand new, and never run. I was thinking of converting the airframe to accept a 30cc range Gasser, but wanted some insight as aircraft gassers are new to me. AI is near me, and they deal with 3W. But I have also heard good things about DA as well.

Since it has the Saito 1.80, do you think I should stay with the Glow 4stroke, or move to gasser with this plane? questions...

What are the good and bads of converting to gas? or staying with glow?

Going gas is never a bad thing, much easier to deal with and cleaner. A.I./3W has a 28cc engine that is a little power house. They sell a combo, Extra Fun/Votec Fun that come with this motor, very good package. You can see the performance on video at their website. Might be worth looking into for your plane if you decide to convert it over to gas. Another option is the Evolution 26 sold by Horizon Hobby, also a very good motor.

Lee, Thanks for the advice. I thought it over, and have decided that I am going to stick with the Satio for now on this plane. I highly anticipate building a giant scale Yak over the winter, and have my eye on that new Carden Hanger 9 54. The airframe is Sexor, and It accepts a 50cc.

Where at the shore? I spent most of my summers in the 70's and 80's in Ocean City and Wildwood when we lived in Philly.

Actually I am in Long Branch which is one of the most north towns on the shore. Its just around 2 hours away from OC and Wildwood. Things have change alot down there since I was a kid in the early 80's. Its been taken over by fo-get-o-baaaad-id's. Funny, cause I am italian too. LOL

I married a local (Florida girl), when I suggested we go to "the shore" she looked at me and wanted to know what the hell I was talking about, that Yankees might go to the shore but down here we go to the beach. <shrugs>

Personally I'd rather go to the flying field!

I hear ya on that one. Whe dont go to the "shore" we go to the beach. Only people that go to "the shore" are the people that live inland or north jersey / new york....

I would rather be at the field as well. Although, when the surf is firing, you can find me in the line up 50 yard off the beach...

Yeah, I hear ya'... but then one of those many Cubs and/or top wing monoplanes flys by with a D'Jai's or some other advertising banner, "crabbing ever so lightly" over the second breaker, it reminds me of how I should be back at my club's field with the guys, re-fueling and gettin' ready to go up again.
