Really like kit building, but I know that they are going the way of the dinosaurs. Been looking at the Aero Works. I imagine that they're a few posts on here about that one. Will be getting a new vehicle in the fall, so I'm really in no hurry. Be next season before I can get it to the field, so who knows if the AW plane will still be available. Been on RCU for a while and came across this web site in a post there. Kerry |

Welcome to FG! I've got the AW Pitts Python, a great flying plane... it flies and lands well, but I don't know if I would make it my first gasser. I've had 4 different Aeroworks planes, the 50cc Extra was a great intro to gas, very easy to land, and light enough to perform some fun aerobatics. |

My primary plane at the moment is an Extreme Flight 74" Yak 54 with an OS 160 in it. I also have an 80" Edge 540 with a 45cc in it that I got flying at the end of last season. Have to use the wifes' SUV to get it to the field. My first gasser. Ran it out of fuel after one of the first few flights (50' off the ground of course). Idiot. Repaired and ready to go again this year....if we ever get any flying weather. Kerry |

I just sold an Extreme Flight 74" yak a few weeks ago.. decent flying plane. If you can get that one up and down in one piece, you should be fine with the Python. I just didn't know where you were in the scheme of things. Mine came in at about 19 pounds... a little on the heavy side for a DA-50, and WAY heavy for most other 50cc engines. I pulled the DA out and went with a 3W 55i-CS.. its supposed to have about 1 1/2 horsepower more than the DA50. Right now, on the first gallon of gas still, its turning a 22x10 in the 6300 range, still running pretty lean. The DA50 would turn about 7000 after it was broken in, but with a 22x8 prop... the 10 is a much more demanding prop. |
