Right now, the hotness is the DA-85. Really the difference between the glass fuse and the balsa is price. Obviously the glass fuse will fly much cleaner in the air due to cleaner lines, etc. If budget dictates what you can buy, the Composites will cost more but are better airplanes in my humble opinion.

Hi Morgy! Welcome to the Flying Giants! I came here to make my step into 50cc. class planes. Lots of good suggestions and build threads and friendly guys - more than willin' to post pictures or point you in the direction of existing threads.
Wood Plane will run ya about $550 - 700.00 and composite is 850 and up - fast!
Wood is my recommendation mainly if you find yourself in repair mode. No fancy painting needed.

I have a SD Models EXTRA 260 and Extreme Yak 54. If I were starting over -the EF YAK54 would be my first choice. There will be many with other good kit experiences with their opinions too.

Engine - many people are raving about t he DL 50 with different muffler. <$400 and close to same hp as the DA. I have 2 DA's and no issues -yet!

Good luck morgy in you decision making - look forward to seeing you around!

I have been looking on here for a few days now and i am leaning towards the extreme composite 35% edge 540t and a da 100 i think its will gost me around $3500 but as i am in the uk i am finding it hard to find most of the stuff i need over here.
I am planning a trip to canada to visit my girlfriend so i moght get something shipped to her house and bring it back woth me. As the pound is strong at the moment more bang for my buck!!!!
I am struggling with all the electrics that you guy's use in your big models any help would be cool
