| Flyin' Around ![]() | Hi there from Christchurch New Zealand A bit about me ... I've been modelling for 35 years - plastic kits, slot cars, free running boats, RC cars, RC boats, control line planes, RC Gliders and RC powered aircraft - not all at the same time though! My main focus has been RC Powered planes for a few years now. I'm currently flying a 27% Giles 202 with a Zenoah 26 and have just started building a 35% Pitts S1-11-B for a Zenoah 80 from the Hostetler plans. Then the plan is to build a 33% Spacewalker from the SIG plans for Zenoah 45. Outside of modelling I'm also into Motorcycles and Muzzle Loading Black Powder guns. Cheers Owen |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | Welcome to Flying Giants Owen. Sounds like quite a background you have! Also sounds like you really like Zenoah engines!! I have five black powder guns, three are rifles, but they are pretty much ornaments now. I'm sure Max and Kiwi would love to welcome you but I'm pretty sure they are on their way to the Joe Nall event in South Carolina. I personally don't build from scratch but you will find a lot of folks on here that do. Enjoy yourself, and once again, Welcome!!!

| Flyin' Around ![]() | Thanks for the welcome. Yep, Zenoah’s are a good reliable engine, plus they’re cheaper than DA’s, 3W’s etc over here, and I like the simplicity of a magneto motor, and they suit the scale flying that I prefer – I’m not after super high performance, just great reliability. It helps too that I picked up the 45 and the 80 second hand at real good prices. I’ve just got the one black powder rifle that I built from a kit a couple of months ago and plan to build a cannon sometime when I find the time – I’ll get these planes built 1st. |

I've had a bit of a lurk in there, but thought I'd do the intro thing here first. I've been thinking of having a go at the IMAC thing to get a bit of discipline into my flying. It's all very well to chuck the plane about the sky, but now that I'm flying decent planes instead of the messy little glow things I really need to tidy things up a bit. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I too have a history of modeling that pre dates the 70's. I have had nothing but good experience with Zenoah magnetos too. Thanks to my first Zeonah G38's s reliability, I'm now into gas engines flat footed and have never looked back! Actually a good friend gave me the first G38 engine to get me into gas! I was such a hard sell! Boy, am I glad I finally did get "sold" too.But now, four Z's later, I have to admit, I've moved on to the DA "madness". The 50cc. 5 hp. @ 3.25# addiction. Not a DA commercial here, just a confession! Mags are very nice and NEVER let me down - but LEAN is MEAN! I do have a Z45 mag. for sale too (4 runs only- one flight only - no, not a crash ) and a G65 on a 97" Gee Bee Y - Kit never completed to air worthiness state and engine never started! Almost criminal isn't it?! I really need to get her back on the bench - and in the air! Too close to finished to sit idle!
