Default Hi from Katy, TX

Just saying Hi to introduce myself on to Flying Giants. I went to the DOD Event in Houston this weekend and came away in awe. I fly mainly 3D profiles and am looking to get started in GS with a 50cc bird.

I'll be researching on here and interested if there is anyone parting ways with a 3D 50cc in my area (Katy, West Houston).

Cheers.

hey man! you got the gas bug bad huh? lol! its all good. If you wanna give the sticks a try on a fatty, gimme a call or a pm whenever and i'll bring out the yak so you can fly it. If you like it, i might consider selling it to get a bigger gasser. OR, john "from scobee" is selling a 30% extra rtf with all jr equipment and a bme 50 that fly's awesome. I think he would take 1000 for it, and its in excellent shape.

if i remember correct, the extra has removable stabs too.. so that would make it a little easier to haul. roof mount eh'? well you dont live too far from the field..Ynot?
and if there was ever an out of town event you wanted to go to, and i was going, I could haul it for you in my trailer.

Sweet car!! When I had my RX7 (2nd Gen) it was surprisingly good as an aircraft transport. Couldn't have anyone sit in the passenger seat but, whatever. I'd be curious to know how it works out for ya. I've been eyeing the RX-8 for a while myself.

Roof rack could work........... buddy of mine used to transport his 42% Edge in an open snowmobile trailer and he travelled a major highway to get to his home field! Just make sure it's strapped down well.

Cheers,
Dave

If you are looking into a giant scale plane, I know a guy in Austin that is selling a 33% extra with a ZDZ 80 RTF for 1500. I know Austin isn't houston, but it isn't far and even if you cant make it here I'm sure something could be worked out to get it back to Houston.

Thanks, I am taking a look at a 30% extra tomorrow over the street from me! (Well almost), I think due space (or lack of) a 30% / 50cc size will be a better start for now.

When will Chix have the DOD Alien video up somewhere for us to see?!!

The RX-8 is about as much space as you will find with a coupe, given that it has the clam-shell doors and back seats. I lay the front passenger seat down and get the plane(s) in the car (have packed in a 60 size Shoestring, and two 40 size birds in there at once before). The trunk is easy big enough for the field box, tool box, fuel, radio box etc. Right now I mostly fly profiles and a 40 size with permanently mounted wing fits in ok, leaving enough room for a big foamy also.

I am sure with a 50cc the wings and stabs will ride inside with me and I will build a comfortable spongy cradle to put the fuse on on top of the roof rack, bungee it down with more foam in between. The closest field to my house is probably 3-4 miles, the others I fly at are a little further, maybe 10-15. So not a long ride taking it easy.

Sweet car, about as practical as you can get if you have kids and still want to have fun!

The 50cc-ers are always a good place to start. I just though I would pass along the word on this 33%

Ash sold the night footage to the DOD guys. It is in the mail to them right now and you'll have to ask them when it will be up. I dont know what is happening with the rest of the footage. You may not see it for a little while, she's busy with the hot springs and nash DVD's

Thanks, that is another sweet deal. There is a similar deal on DOD coming from the other side of Houston. I think I will most likely take a chance with Jon's 50cc Extra though. Will be checking it out shortly!

Hope the DOD guys post it soon, they just posted one Kyle video on the big Wildhare Extra, awesome stuff.

I wish I had made it out there Saturday, I missed a lot.
