| Super Contributer ![]() | Riddle is a good school, also look into other Aviation Universities such as Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, University of Illinois, University of North Dakota, Perdue, Western Michigan University, University of Dubuque. They all are very good schools, I just finished my Bachelor in Aviation Management at SIUC, I have many friends that go to these other institutions, and its important that you find the one that fits YOU best. And believe me.......time for flying airplanes is only going to get worse.....that is not always a bad thing either(oh i cant wait to here the comments for this one ). |

| they call me....the gas man ![]() | School is definitly extremely important, I really slacked off in highschool....and I payed the price, I'm 27 and just now getting into a career. Its very hard to juggle school and a social life, you really have to work hard, but you have to enjoy life as well. If your doing nothing but school work all the time your gonna get burnt out.

If you get accepted(which is no easy task) you dont have to spend a cent on the education and you even get payed! Many of my cousins that are now airline pilots that went to the airforce have told me that they get the first shot at the airline jobs because of there training. I think if you are a regimented person than that is the college for you. By the way I am a freshman in high school and I havent flown for a couple months. I go after school to offseason practice till 4:30 and then work till 10:00. It deffinetley sucks but what has to be done has to be done!!! Keep up your good grades and there are no issues I could see! |

| Flyin' Around | I would not recommend Riddle, but if you do really wish to go there here is what I would do. Go two years to a community college and take all the core classes. (English, science, etc.) This will save you a ton of money, it is about $3k per class at riddle. Also get your raitings at your local FBO. The cost of flying at riddle is ridiculous. Then transfer to riddle after 2 years, and get your degree from them. Even if you do decide to go to riddle for all 4 years, do not fly on campus. Best of luck with your decision. |

| Super Contributer ![]() | Good point above^ when your all done with riddle.......your CFI(Certified Flight Instructor-FAA certificate) is the same CFI you get at a FBO.....just at HALF the price....... I went to a CC to get my Gen. Eds done. Transfered into SIUC with my CFII, Commecial; MEL & SEL instrument. And then to boot, i CFIed for the university while goiong to school...... |

I still have another year before it's really necisary for me to totally decide what I'm going to do for college. whatever I do I would like to have a backup plan and be able to be involved in flight which may be just for hobby.

| BOOMSHAKALAKA ![]() | What Kind of GPA do schools like embry riddle require? I have about a 3.1 but I have also passes a bunch of english, history, math..... ap exams. I get home every night from practice/work about 10pm and then have to start homework so it sucks but I can manage about a 1900--> which makes a 1250 or so on the sat. Is that good enough to get in? I plan on doing rotc with airforce or navy or marines to fly. |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | Did you take the ACT? Taking both can sometimes help. I was in the first year to use the new SAT and ACT, but they didn't take the newest section anyway. Not eveyone had access to the new test, so they rounded to the old 1600 scale. |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | I'm pretty sure Embry Riddle requires a valid checking account before they look at your GPA... Seriously though, I think it's somewhere close to a 3.0
