this is why i got into a trade with Little to non for writing
by the way i got dyslexia thats why my grammer and writing sucks

Apologies about that flyboy. Yes, there is a spell checker in the posts, and it will catch common spelling mistakes. I use it myself, and we encourage everyone to use it as well.

Parental support? I think I have the most supportive parent of all. My mother Catherine is a big fan of the hobby, and silently traveled to a number of events with me and the FG crew in 2006. She sees what we're tryin' to build here with FG, and is one of the strongest supporters of everything we do here. At 76, she's an internet maniac, and helps out greatly behind the scenes with our efforts, and my hobby. Here's a pic of me & Mommad at the Tucson Shootout. Supportive is an understatement, and along with momo, in my book, they are two of the coolest women in the hobby.

my dad is a great supporter taking me to events and encouraging me in the hobby. I normally don't get the nuts and bolts (stuff support) whenever my parents feel like it, I have to ask for it for Christmas or my B-day I don't just get stuff when I ask for it. But overall, I have it not as easy as some but I count my blessings every single day and are thankful for them.

Believe it or not I can remember when I was a teenager. Support from parents was slim, but it was a different world then. I can remember three planes that my parents bought me. 2 were cox CL planes with .049 engines. The third was my first RC. It was a 2 channel (rudder, elevator) with, again, an .049 engine. I flew the wings off every one of them. All the fuel and support equipment was on me. When I was in high school I worked two jobs, and after paying for gas, license and insurance, I didn't have much Money to play with.

By the time I graduated high school, I had 3 decent RC planes one was a 3 channel H-Ray (high wing, flat bottom) It had a .19 and was rebuilt so many times that there wasn't much of the original wood left. Next was a Gentle Lady, 2 channel glider. The last was a Butterfly, 2 channel glider that had been converted to a 3 channel with an RC .049 to get it to soaring height.

I actually had more help in the hobby from a friend. What he did for me was to sell me used equipment for way below what it was worth. He is the one that sold me the H-Ray and my first 4 channel radio. If I remember right it was about $50 for the whole works. That radio was selling for about $250 then. This man is still my main flying buddy. He has been in the hobby for longer than he would like to admit. He still talks about the first RC radio he had. It was a kit that had to be built. It was a tube radio even the receiver had a tube. It was only a one channel push button radio. Push once and the rudder went full deflection right, push it again and you get full deflection left, once more for straight.

Sorry for the ramble, Just bringing back memories.

my parents are suppostive in the sense that they take me to the field and buy me little things every now and then. they never really had a lot of money to give me for the hobby so i had to fend for myself. im 16 and work as a waiter to pay the planes and other expenses. i worked all summer when i was eleven, cutting grass in order to pay for my superstar. by the end of the next summer i had my certification. i kept mowing through lawns and planes and just recently ive been settling down. i was finally able to afford a 50 cc plane after 5 years of learning the hardway! now i just do a lot of trading and working hear and there and i have to give up what ive been working for the last 5 years for my dream car.....nissan 300zx!

In my case it works the other way around, I support my parents and I am very proud of that.

I got support for my first year but after that i was on my own. the first and last time my mom went to an event with me was the youth master and i think that was because it was in south carolina. My dad took me to a flyin on new years day in 06 but other than that hes never been anywhere but a golf dome with me because i still couldnt drive. Im driving now and ive been to toledo twice the huck fest pittspurgh multiple times and columbus once. the huckfest is past columbus and east of cinncinati i live 30 miles south east of lake erie. I am working on my second plane its a GP cap 580, i find that christmas is a very easy way to take care of the practical stuff and fortunally my birthday is four days after christmas I bought the plane with the money i got from relatives and i got my zdz 80 repaired for my b-day from my parents. but im working on getting servos and stuff and its all on me thank god min. wage went up

When I was growing up my parents supported me 100% Not financialy but with support and travel to the field and events. I had to earn the money for everything except at christmas and birthdays I always asked for modeling supplies. I was not exactly the model child and modeling is problably one of the greatest things to happen to me. I have a feeling if not for this hobby taking up most of my time I would have gotten into a lot of trouble like alot of others with this time.

I hardly get any support, parents divorced, I live with my mom, and I go to a private school.
