| Just wondering what you guys think of the turbo props. I know most of you probably don't know or maybe you do know about turbo props. The Wren turbo prop used in Quique's yak is amazing. You can read the review in fly RC in April of 06 I believe. Amazing power and there is no vibration. Fuel is the only problem. 54 ounce tank with the turbo sucking 8 ounces a min. But with 55 pounds of thrust, and the engine weighs 5.0 pounds. Pretty good power to weight ratio. Andrew |

Saw Q fly it 5 times last year, it is pretty amazing. But the lag in throttle response (2 - 3 seconds)made even the king have fun with 3D, but he was still hovering it, and doing harriers all over the place. But for IMAC type flight it was sick... almost silent, and the vertical was SICK. The smoke was insan as well. Not too sure how practical it is for the non paid airshow pilot at this stage . But it sure is a cool set up!

I wish someone would send me one.... I could make it a constant speed prop in less than a day.. Eddie Weeks http://www.variablepitchhobbies.com/ |

I just don't think that the throttle lag hurts you that much in your 3d performance. I have tried it on Realflight G3 I have been able to hover fine with a three second lag. I do fly turbine jets though. I have become very used to turbine throttle lag. BVM Bandit, Skymaster Hawk, and a Avonds F-16. I think it would be very cool to put a turbo in the Yak 54. The videos are amazing. Me and my dad are thinkin about doing it. |

Go for it! Especially if you have the turbine experience, then that makes all the more sense. ANd I guess with out more people using them and improving the way prop driven planes use them.. they won't get any better! Just post pictures!

| The forward only VPP, I have been flying really works well.. Far better than the reversible version. I bet the plane could do over 140 mph, quietly and still shorten the landing. If someone sent me a turbo prop I could make a few parts and send the whole thing back. no charge.. Just buy one VPP.. |
