I guess you can't win them all. 1st and 2nd 3 years in a row was a nice run. We will start a new streak next year! Our teams worked hard to make tough designs fly as well as they did. 2 foot span with 60 ounce per square foot wing loadings is a challenge on the pilot too!

If your ever out on a date and find yourself wishing you were somewhere else, or were with someone else, just start talking about RC. Make sure to add in some sound effects for good measure. Works like a charm.

Instead of, "This one time at band camp...." you say, "This one time at the RC field....." Good idea.

if you think explaining ariplanes is hard, try explaining Helis to them, you havent seen a blank stare until you mention gyros, servos, CCPM, how negitve pitch works, and how they can fly upside down without crashing and do auto-rotations.

now were talking about blank stares.

HAHA You're right wcc963

Something like this-
"So I was trying to dial out the CCPM interaction on my bird but the p-mix was backward and I couldn't obtain liner collective movement on the lower end of the V curve in idle up......"

yea or something like... i was getting interaction with my ccpm so i had to dial in a mix and adjust the ATV's to get everything straight. then my gyro was reversed so i had to re-dial the gain and get a straight shot down the boom. once i got that, i got an annoying wag that lead itself to be that the gain wire was plugged in the wrong slot. once i got my head balanced and my esc programed i dumb thumbed it and had to start all over again.
