Sounds like the switch shorted internally and is just letting current pass all the time untill it's turned on and then it will conduct fully, send it back for sure. Radio South is a good place also.

sorry to hear about the switch going bad casey. send it to horizon and they will take care of it more than likely at no charge. thier covered for 3 years and even if it were out iam shure they would cover it anyway. they have allways been very good to me. at this time i would think about a back up radio. not a expensive one but a backup so if this ever happens again you arent shut down i haven ever been left without but, i keep a 7202 around for just incase. i allways keep 2 radios.

Have you been using the DSC/Buddy lead socket on this set? The socket has switching contacts in it so the radio powers up without powering up the RF section. If the contacts have been damaged, this could be the cause of your problem. This would require returning the radio to Horizon for service.

Go to Radioshack, get yourself a 3amp, 125volt/250volt fuse. The standard fuse is a 125 volt 3 amp, but it is a hard fuse to find. The volts dont matter, so 250V is fine, just make sure you get the 3amp standard fuse. It is something that is very easy to blow, sometimes plugging the wall charger in is enough to pop that fuse. Just pull the screws out of the back of the case, open it up, and replace the fuse just above the battery box.

**just read that you also have a switch issue. In that case, send it to horizon or radio south**
