There probably 3/16" axles which I just installed on my 40%. My originals are metric, but the same diameter. If I were constantly breaking axles, I would check to make sure the geometry looks good, and there isn't some weird alignment going on. I did notice on my Dubro install however, that the wheels are further out on the axle shaft in order to sit in the center of the pant. If I break mine, I'll chime back in.

Where are they breaking on the axles ? They should be 3/16" axles. Do not put a flat spot anywhere but on the outside part of the axle for the wheel collar.

He probably has the wheel too far outward on the axle. Use a new 3/16" and see if he can get the wheel closer in.
