Stephen,

I really like that idea and I think that we will do something like that. I want this to be an idividual, stand alone event. I think having specific patterns for this event would be the way to do it. My son suggested having the patterns somewhat mixed, taking a few from intermediate, advanced, and unlimited and form it into 1 sequence that would be unique to this event only. In the same way have a round of unknowns, too. Great idea Stephen! Keep'em coming!

Tom

I'd love to do this in 06' but I'd really like to take time to think it through and cover all the bases.

In the vision of doing this, I am going to make our field even larger here, and change up some things that would make everyone's visit here even more enjoyable. This will give me the time to make these changes as well.

Sounds interesting. What are the limitations of the plane.I mean I only have a Funtana 40 but might have a 25% or larger Extra, Yak, or Edge by the time you hold this. I'm very interested.

I need to get to flying

Keep us updated

What if we were to have some kind of sim or video contest for the freestyle and the top 20 or so get to come to Ohio to compete?

There's a huge fundamental problem with that -- you're using a sim. Not everyone has one and they're not all the same as far as physics. In any case, they are all more video games than they are real sims. I don't think that it would be appropriate for a contest of this caliber.

Read back a bit -- it's been suggested and considered.

a regular video would be ok for a freestyle but its hard to see when some one flies percsion without getting the ground perspective...sim would not work at all you dont have to worry about the ground...you can just stick bang and pull something off..

Stephen is right. Sims are cool but it is totally different in the real world of flying.

I'm wondering if we could open it up to any youth that wanted to participate with any plane (excluding foamies and helis - keep those for night time under the lights fun) and then have elimination rounds to narrow the field to 10 - 20 pilots that would fly on Saturday and Sunday for all the peanuts. Just another thought!

This would add possibly another day to the competition to hold the elimination rounds. Any ideas?

I like the elimination thought...it would be hard to fly that many kids and try to get some good flying in...just a thought...

Yeah I don't know about that. I think you would end up with a huge group of kids, most of whom don't really belong in the competition. I think SOME filtering needs to be done before the competition. I think the elimination round may still be possible if you were a little less stringent on who you let in the freestyle, but you need to know how many pilots would sign up.

I fear this thing is going to lose steam by the time we get to 2007. Do you really think it wouldn't be possible to get something together for the summer of '06? I understand if it's something personal, and honestly I'm not too entirely clear how long it would take to get this thing together. But, to me, it seems like this could be feasible for '06 for fear of losing energy in a year and a half.

Or maybe I'm just a stupid kid, you decide .

guys, i like the way you are going with this. i would love to help you out with this event. in fact i'm willing to let you guys use one of my 35% planes to use just like they do in the youth masters. i'm sure we can scrounge another 35% plane to use as well(cough, cough kitman). ANYTHING, i can do to help this get off the ground i'm willing to help. youth in aviation is our lifeblood! i would like to also invite you guys to my back yard for the heart of ohio huckfest. we will have imac seminars and any of you guys who would ever like to come to the house and get a taste for imac, just give me a ring. toby silhavy (www.silhavyaerosports.net) 937-764-1606
