I've had "Can you fly it here?" (12 place car park), as I show people my 60" Edge 540..

"Can you land it?"
"Nah, I have to crash it into the side of a building when I'm finished, then buy a new one"

"Land on that roof over there"
"No.."

These are $30,000,000+ planes. Mind you that we are obviously on the airport property, and aircraft coming in on final are only about 700 feet away.
So I pull the plane out of my truck and some schmuck newbie mechanic comes up to me and says "Hey, are you getting ready to fly that thing?"
My response - "NO! Are you flippin' retarded???"
That was nice but true! You should have said yes "do you want a go"??

i dont understand why ppl would think that our planes cant go as high as we see them. There is no magical layer in the sky through which only full scale planes can fly.

its like the old sound barrier , before it was passed people thought it was a barrier where the plane would just explode.

I did the same thing at Amelia Island beach two years ago. Bought a 4' w.s. tri-wing kite.
After all that excitement and my stogie had burned out- - I took the caluem sticks up to the hotel with my sweetheart of 27 years and plunged them into the room's hot tub. Cool too as they act like underwater candles! Great for me - not so great for Lynda!

I like the "hey, where can I buy that" (as I'm flying my 50'' sukhoi)
"they have a special on em' at radio shack, $19.95, I bought 2!"
I normally hope I don't see that person again

Person: "How big is yours"

Me trying not to laugh about the question: "My biggest right now is only 60" span"

Person: "My god thats huge"

Me: "You have no idea"

Then sometimes I'll tell them about the 40-50%ers

I get "the questions" all the time.

I was flying my EFlite Extra in the parking lot of the mall (I can do that, I'm a security supervisor ) at about 3AM when a coworker pulls up in our truck and starts asking how much it costs, etc.

Then he saw the wing to my Ultra Stick in my car and asked what it was. I said "Oh, that's the wing to one of my other planes".

Him: "THAT'S JUST THE WING? "

Me: "sigh..."

Then the "How much do they cost" thing...

Them (while I fly my foamy): "How much do those cost?"

Me: "Oh, when you add everything up, about $200"

Them:

Me: "Nah, I'm just screwing with you. Actually when you add the cost of my 9303 and accessories, they run about $1000"

Them:

And then "How do you afford that?"

Me: "I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs.... I have no girlfriend... I have no car payment... I have no debt.... etc."

Them: "Oh... how did you do that??"

Me: "I'm not an idiot"

I get them all, trust me. I usually get a round of applause when I finish though
