Talking My new toy.

Ok, this thread actually serves a purpose, as opposed to the last 1 I posted in

I bought myself a new toy a few weeks ago. No Giant but it sure is a 3D plane.

It is a Precision Aerobatics Bad Boy V2.

I previously had a V1 and had litterally flown it apart so it it was time for a replacement.

The "build" was a breeze. So lets get to the flight report

The setup
is;

Engine: VMAX 52 2/s turning a 12.25x3.75 prop.
JR 577s on ailerons.
Hitec HS-645MGs on tail.
GWS Naro on throttle
Running 4.8v (for now)

The maiden was a no brainer. I took off at full throttle so the rollout took about 10 feet.. The plane actually started a very graceful right hand slow roll. I just lent on the left aileron till it was trimmed out and all was well. No elevator trim was needed.

Time to put her through her paces.

Rolls are nuts, just like the V1. Super quick and very axial. I did lose one aileron control horn on the maiden, it pulled out of the aileron. Purely my fault, a lack of glue.

Blender time. My favourite move of all and this plane excels at it. No throttle dive, full right aileron. Then rudder and elev. I centred the aileron stick adn it did a beautiful flatspin.

Harrier
. I had all manner of trouble trying to harrier my V1 from level flight. The V2 is too easy. Cut the power and feed in the up untill she stalls and get some power on and she just locks in. Very impressive.

Maiden flight and it was time for a hover.
A bit higher than usual for the obvious reason, it was the maiden flight. I pulled her up to vertical and pushed the power up until it was hovering. Very very stable. I noticed the engine sag slightly so it was time to get out of there. I pushed her level and flew out no worries.

Landing was a breeze, comes in so slow you think it is going to fall out of the sky, but it just keeps on floating.

Alot of people have had KE issues with the V2, mainly pitching. I dont know what they are doing because mine sits in a High Alpha Knife Edge like it is on rails, just need to lose some of the speed to stop it pitching.

The two other flights were done at a New years fun fly on Saturday in the late afternoon.

Hovering down on the deck now, and it is still as solid as a rock in a hover. it does insane pinwheels as well. I rotated so fast on one I alsmost did two

This thing is awesome to fly and I cant wait to get her back at my usual club where I am more comfortable so I can really wring her out.

Now I need to save for that Precision Aerobatics 35% Extra

That plane looks pretty good how did you find it looked when you where flying it because the clear covering must have made it hard to see when it got far away didn't it?

I am thinking about getting one of those to replace my old morris su-do-khoi. Are they readily available in the U.S?

Whoa, sorry guys not getting emails

3DGE; I find it fairly easy to see. The clear covering actually isnt really clear when it gets further away, sorta just turns grey. I am yet to fly it on a cloudy day which was when I had trouble seeing my old one.

lafus; yes they are readily available in the US. Contact Carolina3D and they can set you up with one. I am not sure but I think they have sold out there latest shipment.

Cajun; The 61FX would be ballistic. Mine will go vert out of sight at half throttle. You might have trouble getting the CG back as well with the 61. although Bill from C3D is putting a YS110 on one

analog boy; I looked at the seagull harrier. They were a little heavy for my liking. My Bad Boy weighs in at around 4.5lbs Perfect weight for 3D.

Thanks, for the comments guys.
