That sounds really cool.

How on earth did some crazy kid ever get a transmitter to fly into some people, do you have to like prove your flying skill or something.

Nope just go down and fly, even if you haven't even soloed yet. I went 2 years ago and was definitely on the list of the greatest event I've gone to. You make some great friends and its such a laid back atmosphere that you can just relax and not worry about the "competition." The best part is being able to go down and just have an awesome time. Hangin at triple tree with Biff and Pat Hartness is a blast. They put on quite an extravaganza! For everyone who is thinking about going, don't just think about it....DO IT! Trust me it will be awesome. The YM was a HUGE turning point in my flying, it is an amazing confidence booster, and a great way to have fun meeting some great friends. You don't have to know how to fly a sequence, just look up how to do the maneuvers, practice on the sim a couple times, and go fly! It's that easy!

Even WORSE Ryan,, My new one for "Mr. I hate the sequences" is called MAKE THE CHIMP LIMP!! Stump the chump is far too nice and far too easy for my needs. Sukhoi is in knee deep now!

Guys, like Scott said. This is a competition, but not like anything else you've been to. There is ZERO- NONE-NADA pressure. Don't think you're good enough to be there? WRONG!! I lay the law at the pilots meeting. ANYONE talking smack will have a short day. ALL pilots (and parents!) clap for every pilot after every flight. We have some top pilots there to judge you. We do need to judge as this is a contest. They are there to help you improve. We also have some IMAC greats to talk to you after your flight. This is done in a possitive manner! You will never hear you flew BAD, you will hear what you can do better and how to do it! These guys are there to help and encourage you not blast your flying. We do give placks for highest points,, but the BIG prize goes to the best sportsman (or woman!)

Guys,, the Matt Chapman Youth Masters at Triple Tree Aerodrome is a big name and a big deal. Don't let that stop you from being here!! I can tell you about the meet, but it wouldn't capture what it's all about. I will say this. If you can fly a plane at all you are welcome here. Animal Jesky is there,, if he needs to take the plane for a minute while you re-combobulate,, no problem. You will be right back in the saddle! You will get instruction on flying better by the pros. You will have a blast with your friends. You will be encouraged by everyone there. You will be the stars at Triple Tree. You will encourage your competitors. You will call me Mr.Sadler,,,,,, ask the guys who've been there before about that one!! Our goal is to show you competition is not scarey, being a gentleman is job#1, if you fly well cool,if you don't,,cool. School is your job. If your grades fall below your parents standards ALL modeling is done for that report card period. Everyone flying holds up a right hand and takes the grade oath!

Just come. Don't worry about anything,,, just get here!
Biffy,, I mean Mr. Sadler

In talking to the great "Mr. Sadler" about everyone wanting to do a freestyle competition and compete with their own planes at the Youth Masters, he has graciously bestowed upon me and anyone else that wants to help, the honor to sponser a 4 minute "foamie freestyle" to music after the main events each day. (Biff said he would drag out his hoppin' stereo system to play your CD's)

This would be open to any participating pilot in the YM and would be flown using your own foamie. We would pick 4 of your peers to be judges for the freestyle and 2 routines would be flown (1 round each night). The top 3 will be awarded bragging rights for a year (plus a prize if your nice LOL!)

I need input from any of you that will be participating to let me know if this is something you would want to do and if we can get enough participation to do it. Obviously there will be alot going on each day and the folks at Triple Tree all want to make this worthwhile to everyone that is there. Personally, I would like to see everyone compete but at least 10 pilots would be great.

Any thoughts?

Biff, any comment?

Regards,

Tom Arnold
