If you guys don't like them don't bolt/ glue them on. Just because its an arf doesn't mean you can't be creative. Heck try them cut down and see if there is any diffrence. Horizon and Hobbico fly the snot out of these planes before we get them. Sometimes change is good. Other times bad, but if we didn't change everyone will still be flying Wright Flyers. You know that was the sh%$ for a while then someone had to change it. Damn the bad luck. JD |

dude you guys are NEGATIVE maybe you guys are hatin cause your plane cant do the things an sfg equipped plane can. like knife edge pop ups and super tight knife loops or how about killer point rolls with almost effortless rudder control and real tight 180 turns.... dont be so afraid of change... without change and innovation 3d would have gone nowhere

Regardless of whether they're ugly or not, Horizon is taking a good approach to try and get the new Funtanas to sell. A lot of everyday flyers are going to see those on these planes and then look back to all the indoor stuff and say well if it worked so good for the indoor planes, why wouldnt it work as good on a glow plane. Even if they're more of a pain than a good thing, people are going to want them just to have them. On the note of the small wing on top of the CPLR's fuselage, it actually works awesome!!! From what I hear is that it creates a biplane like feel without having to deal with the bad tendencies of a biplane. It also increases rudder precision and effectiveness. I haven't tried one on a foamy but my friend did and said it was amazing.

Let's clear something up here: CPLR had that little horizontal wing behind the canopy to direct airflow over the stab. It didn't act as any sort of SFG. A local F3A flyer here tried it on his smaragd and went back and forth several times on whether he liked it or not. He finally decided he couldn't tell the difference ![]() Christophe probably created it to correct some shortcoming of the plane. Most of us wouldn't be able to tell the difference, if there was one at all.

I'm not sure were that guy got the online pics, but I saw all the new planes on the Horizon Hobby handout magazine that I get shipped to my door. I;m not against these things in anyway, I like them. I was just pointing out that horizon should pace themselves... It's like all 4 of their new planes have these SFGs.

I think its excellent to see these companies trying to break the mould a bit. Sure there may be some repetitous stuff as they keep progressing but dont ever be surprised one day to see a new Extra 350 or something sporting side force generators. If that happens then you better beleive the 40% ers are going to follow suit. After all general aviation technology could well end up being driven from the modellers work bench in the future as there are really very few limits to what we can do these days. Kiwi |
