I can hover my Raptor 50 and my Fury Extreme...thats it. (inverted too)
Been struggling with the TR with my 35% Carden Extra and the CAP 580....as for Real Flight...forget that as well. crash and reset, crash and reset....
the planes know how to do it....now I just need to figure it out. gas through the tank. that should do it. in time.

hovering is over rated. I thought if you can torqe roll, then you must be good. the truth is, its in your head. Mostly you can't hover real long is because your too high. trust me, its 10 time easier to hover down low than up high. I first did my hovers with a foamy, then the extra special on the g3 then my h9 twist. thats when kyle told me if I can hover a twist, i can hover almost anything. He was right.

Practically all planes have some sort of wing rock in upright harriers. This is because the rudder is getting dirty airflow from the wing and prop. Try an inverted harrier and you will find it is much more solid. Also, the heavier the plane is for a given size, the harder it will be to harrier. Your patty was practically a lost cause for learning 3D, but the AM Yak, provided you are under 17 pounds (preferably 16), should be much easier to both hover and harrier.
As for still torquerolling even if you input aileron, there is either a problem with your technique or you don't have enough aileron throw, or both. Yo need at least 35 degrees of aileron travel, for one, and your inputs need to be quick ant almost full deflection, but only momentarily, and a blip of throttle at the same time will get more air flowing over the ailerons. Basically, as soon as you notice the plane start to rotate, apply full right aileron and a blip of throttle and release aileron. Keep repeating the process to maintain position. I have found that, if you are in a perfectly vertical hover and only slowly input opposite aileron, the torque will eventually take over.

You're right, hovering lower is easier. It's just the pucker factor you need to get over!

To stop the wing rock in the AM Yak, shift your cg back slightly, and make sure you have elevator throws of 45degrees or more. My Yak was 18pounds, and it flew like a feather. Plenty of power and extremely agile.

The problem with the wingrock is keeping on top of it. you can do it if you're proficient enough and that comes through practice practice practice. Yak or any plane.

Adding a bit of spoileron (both ailerons up slightly) will also help slow the wing rocking.
You also must find that "sweet spot"... the angle of attack at which the plane harriers best.
And of course if you haven't already gotten it... practice, practice, practice!
