Love the pics Buildfly and Excelpoint.

Excelpoint, when I got Jesse (the yeller lab in the pics) I was lookin at getting a GSP. I lived in an area that had a good bit of upland hunting in addition to ducks and geese. I've been a lab guy all my life, so I brought home a yellow fuzzball instead.

My father has worked for Purina (now Nestle Purina) for over 35yrs. As a result, I got Jesse from the Purina research farm near St. Louis Missouri. He's a great dog - hundreds of clean retrieves to his name and a great buddy!

Matt.

Your pups a full chocolate GSP?? Very nice dog. I had two GSP's and one was a friggen ripper the other was brainless and gunshy. Of course she used to get the paper and bring the old man his slippers when he asked her so she stuck around for 10 years or so. Most spoiled pot licker I ever had.

My Weimeraner bitch was one in a million. She could open the doors in the landrover and let herself in. She would sit there at 5pm every night waiting for me to get home just hoping I would take her out to hunt a bunny or a bird. To this day I have never seen or come across another dog so damned intelligent. I know I will never ever get another one like her. I live for the da when I can move south from here and get access to the ducks, doves and partridge etc. Bird hunting to me is second to heaven.

Here in Chile I just have my 9mm Berretta for poppin beer cans as moving guns around here is a real pain in the butt. You can get a handgun for self protection in a blink but a shotgun or a rifle is like pulling teeth for a unicorn. Sort of in reverse to the norm we grew up with in Oz and Kiwi land.

I love shooting trap and skeet. My old winchester 101 with 24 inch tubes on it was so worn out in the block when I sold it when you pulled the trigger it rattled.

In your photo that looks like a Browning or a Berretta. What shotty is it Matt.

We need a new web site ShootingGiants.com

Matt,

Memories coming back.

Does your GSP get all shivery and shaky with excitment when you are taking her out hunting. My first one was like a shaken up bottle of fizzy drink when you pulled the gun out of the cabinet. It was game on and she would near on have fits waiting to go.

Hey Kiwi, Yeah she is solid liver. Comes from a solid black sire and solid liver Dam.The last litter she had she threw all solid liver pups(6). The shotty Im using in the pic is a grade 3 model 10 Miroku, its the only shotty that fits my short a$$ fram off the shelf.
Matchless the GSP in the Pics is also called Jess. Her official name is
Australian Field Trial Champion Pointgold Outburst.

Yeah she certainly does. She is all laid back until we hit the dirt tracks then she's like a wound up spring.

I have been hunting since I was 6 years old and still love it to this day. Dad and I hunt up in Georgia in a town called Irwinton just east of Macon. Don't have any pictures to post of my hunts because dad didn't buy the digital camera until after the last deer season. If I can I will try to get a picture of the mount on the wall that was my first deer/buck taken 2 seasons ago.

Jordan,

ah, i do have an opinion on handguns... if you are tight for money, but want a reliable and fun gun, have a look at a Bulgarian Makarov. It's the gun that the baddies on most James Bond movies carry ;-) You should be able to pick one up for 150-180 bux in good to excellent shape. They shoot the Makarov 9x18 bullet, it's closer to a .380 than a full on 9mm. i've got two and they are both as reliable as a ball peen hammer, and accurate too! I picked mine up at Best Pawn over in Stillwater. He usually has one in stock. I'm sure you can find them in Tulsa too. www.makarov.com you can find out pretty much what you need to know about them there. happy shooting!

-Matt
