My current DA-100 easily has 100+ gallons through it and still runs and pulls great.

I owned a DA 100, really liked it, but then a friend brought the same plane I had only with a 3W 106, I couldn't believe the difference in power, don't get me wrong the DA ran without a flaw, except for the power difference, it was like night and day.

So I purchased a 3W 106 and it is awesome, dependable and straight line speed to burn. I did some looking into them both and 3W has 2 piston rings while DA only has 1. now I'm no genius but I do know power and how to run an engine, having raced cars all my life.
Nothing wrong with DA but 3W for me now.

Chuck

I have a 3W 106! Best power, and transition in its class. I have not had a problem that was not caused by myself (did you know that flying w/o a backplate causes the prop to flex and blow off?!)! If you haven't already bought the DA 50, get yourself a comparable engine from 3W. Take your pick, they have a few in that range.

I had a DA 100 and had some issues with it hitting and missing ( but that was without a cowl). Now that it is on a 34% Columbo Anderson Extra with a cowl I dont have any problems with it. Choke it once, flip till she fires (usually second flip) take choke off flip around 2-4 times and she fires right up. I am going to try a 3W 106 for my Carden - I like Chris's 106 better than my DA . . .
By the way - my Columbo Anderson weighs around 26-27 lbs. dry and the DA pulls it well
