Google earth does not have a high res image of the Courtnay/Comox area. Just go out to he area in question with a camera and take some pics in each direction. That would at least give us an idea.

I flew at a local school system you years without issue. But i never flew when there were sports activities and such going on, or where there was alot of people traffic. As long as there are no signs saying you cant do it, you should be fine. If someone files a complaint, and the police show up, the worse thats gonna happen is the cop is going to ask you to stop and ask you not to do it again.

Yea, if there were people practicing I could usually go to a different spot but I made sure I never flew near them or even had the plane going in a direction that would take it twards them if something went wrong. If I couldn't do that then I wouldn't fly. You just can't put others at risk no matter how small that risk may seem. It only takes once.

wanta hear something? a group of local heli guys me included had permission in writing from the delevoper and owner of the land we were flying at to be there. someone neighboring the property called in a complaint. now this field was apx 40 or more acres. the sherriffs dept showed up and escorted us off the property. and not just one car, oh no, buy a half dozen of floridas best. we were told by the sherriffs dept that if we returned to the field, no matter if we did had permission, we would be taken to jail for disturbing the peace. how do you like that? florida, another day in paradise. i dont know about canada but you can bet that the police can do pertty much what they want. it only takes one jerkoff. that was a only child, and couldnt pay for a friend. ok iam done. good luck on your quest. just fly till the cops show up and tell you to leave. and a foamy you can fly in your yard
