lol guys i riped the ca hinges out of one of my elivater half its a funtana 40 with a saito 100 and a jr ds 811s on all control surfaces u got lucky cause i was able to land it and the elivater half stayed on long enough all that was hulding it on was the wire the conects the to i was lucky that that did not come off cause the servo is on that side that broke. what i did to break it or tear it out was a pretty close to wide open blender like i said i was able to land it safely so hupfully i will have it back up in the air next weekend i will most likey use robart hinges here are a few pics tell me what u think lol Last edited by casey g; 08-29-2006 at 08:44 PM. |

Sounds like it's a free bird now. Anytime you get one back like that, it's free, now go out and beat it to death!!!

I had the exact same thing happen to my Funtana 40. Same side as yours as well. Luckly I was hovering right in front of me when it broke so I hover landed; gear took the hit! Your dad is right about this plane but once you can 3d it well, any other plane will be very easy for you.

Sorry about your plane man, glad you got it down safely though. You prolly don't wanna hear this, but you installed the hinges on their sides, and you're supposed to glue them in 90 degrees to what they are right now. There was less meat inside the wood. Vic

Same thing happened with mine except the hinges cracked and broke where the hinge bends, I also manged to land ok. You may find robarts too thick for the elevator, i used the mini robart style hinges and they were still a bit too big, that elevator is very thin. I realized afterwards that I should have tried flat hinges instead but my F40 didnt last long enough to try that, RIP
