It is the fumes/vapors from the gasoline that ignite, not the actual liquid.

there was smoking and fueling . My uncle steered me away. He kinda figured out what was going on. He was filling up a lawn mower or something while smoking . 30 minutes later, I will never forget it..."we done it a million times" . The last 4 famous words of a redneck "hey yall watch this". He poured gas carefully into I guess about a 2 gallon tin bucket. He threw the cigarette in there and blew fire all over the place . So, I guess I am one of the guys who says BS to that throw a cig in a bucket trick! Oh, and by the way...the tip of a cigarette burns at only 1,700 degrees Farenheit.. that's not really that hot..http://www.tarnival.org/cigarette/in...pyrolysis.html

And I myself have seen the result of a very small spark light my brand new 40hp outboard engine burn to nothing!!!!DO NOT SMOKE<USE A CELL PHONE OR HAVE IT TURNED ON>WHEN FUELING!!! you may save someone or your .....LIFE! (by the way....the spark was 25 feet away on a cold day!) BE SAFE!

this is the reason for asking my original question....to educate me and even better-others who have not seen what can-AND WILL- HAPPEN! Lets have fun and enjoy the hobby but also NOT GET HURT. spilling fuel is a DANGEROUS THING. It can BURN YOU OR EVEN WORSE-KILL YOU!

Aluminum T fitting. No problem on my 50 or 100. Works great, easy to defuel, lasts a long time. When you loop your vent line, loop it high too. I secure my fuel tank with velcro and use some smaller pieces to secure the vent line to the tank mounting velcro in the aforementioned loops to the top-back of the tank then out the front bottom of the plane.

Because your title refers to fuel, refuel, safe fueling etc... I have to pass this along. A few years ago I had a big Ram truck, and I could barely reach over the bed to get the 5 gallon lawn mower fuel tank. I just slid it back to the back where I could reach it. I The instant that I grabbed the tank at the house, fortunately before refueling or the gas station... it blew up like you can't believe... in my hand! My dad was just like... Nobody was hurt, and I was not burned or hurt. It blew a 5 gallon fuel jug apart at the seams! Static electricity from the plastic bed liner.... So, for those of you who have a truck bed or carpet in your vehicles, be careful about not sliding and dicharge yourself as well before grabbing it. The can was charged, so I don't know what I could do about it, but don't slide the cans.... As far as answering your question on size, this is what I bought and it fit the DA-100 perfectly. The other stuff I had was a little small. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXD739&P=ML The plane does not leak any fuel while flying. If it does... it is a drop or two. I can't imagine it being much, I never se it on the plane afterwards. Do you know what we're talking about by looping it back to the back on the vent tube?

Yes, out of the front of the tank, along the top, get to the back of the tank, make a U turn, and back up to the front, and then down the tank and down to the cowl somewhere. What you don't want to happen is a loop somewhere. A loop will make a liquid lock and eventually starve the motor of fuel.
