Help! A lots of doubts about my first big plane.

Hello:

I'm new in flying giant planes. I would like to bild my first big plane with a gas engine and I have a lot of questions.

I'm thinking in an Extra 330 26% ( http://www.camodel.com.ar/modelos/e...30-26-30ing.htm ) with a CRRC-PRO 45 cc engine ( http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=282834 ).

Do you think it is a good combination? Do you have any comments about the plane or the engine? I live in Argentine and this engine is a very affordable option (U$S 320) and comes with electronic ignition and muffler. I saw that a DA50 or a Zenoah are much more expensives and my budget is really small.

The plane also needs 7 high torque servos (7-8 kg at least). I was looking these ones from Hitec but I can't evaluate the diferences:
HS-755HB: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGLN4&P=7
HS-755MG: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMYH3&P=7
HS-805BB: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXN610&P=ML
Could somebody explain me what are the diferences and wich one is better?

I have a Futaba 6EXAS radio with a FM receiver. Do I need to go to a PCM receiver? The radio came with a 4.8v 600 mA NiCd receiver pack, will I need more powerfull bateries? Is there any problem with the receiver and the current used by the bigger servos?

Thank you in advance...

Pablo.

Instead of those big 1/4 scale servos. They are large in size and weight.
They will not fit in a standard servo mounts.

I would recommend the Hitec 645, since you are on a budget .

i agree the 645 will do the job, but as far as the motor i think you should read the threads about this motor here on the giants.there are now a couple of manufactures that are making this size motor, some better than others. before you make your choice do a search. you can find most of the answeres here on this great site, if you do a search. almost any question you have about giant scale and gas motors and rc in general. welcome and good luck in your quest

I agree about the servos, go with the 645MG. I have used them in 27%-30% planes with no problems, they will work fine if you're not into heavy 3D flying,as far a the batteries goes I would not use the ones that came with the radio. A good inexpensive way to go for your first big bird is the Nickel Metal Hydride, check with Dave Thatcher at Radical RC for switches and your batteries. Just my 2 cents, I would maybe shop on the Swap shop here for an engine, you can pick one up at a good price that will be very dependable. Hope this helps

I'll also chime in on the 5645MG servos. They are great for that size plane.

And as for your battery, you are better off using a 6volt pack. Maybe 1500ma. For motor, I would suggest a DL 50. They are clones of DA but just as good at a good price.
