| Flyin' Around ![]() | Are servo programmers for use only when a given transmitter does not provide those functions? In other words, if you own a top-end nine or ten channel radio why would a separate servo programmer be necessary? THANKS in advance for you assistance! | Back to the 170CS ![]() | There are a stack of reasons why a programmer is used over a radio . When ganging servo's they do a better job at matching . If by chance you want to change your radio you dont have to go through programming the whole plane to suite your new TX . You cant fry a servo by selecting the wrong plane because the servo's will never fight each other . Servo matching can be done prior to installation more easily . As you say if your TX is not up to the job the programmer can do it all . Thats all I can think of . Stu |

| www.engsoc.org/~thastie ![]() | Another one is that using a programmer will free up channels in your receiver. Instead of using channel 2 and 7 for elevator halves, now you can just use channel 2 for both. I've also heard legends that on some radios the mixes can induce a lag in the slaved channel. I haven't experienced it that first hand. On my Funtana 90, I'm using my 9C super to mix my elevator halves together. I wasn't able to get it nearly as precise as on my Aeroworks 50cc where I used a hitec programmer to match the elevator halves. The Funtana flies fine for what I do with it (3D flopping around), but I think I'll be investing in some programmable digis for it so that I can get rid of the elevator mismatch I wasn't able to program out with the radio. | Flyin' Around ![]() | Thanks to you too "Dangerous", and i would happily take your advise but in my neck of the woods finding someone that has one does not exist. Maybe my having one will give the ball another kick and they will ask to borrow mine! |

| Super Contributer ![]() | also an in line amp meter works really good for ganging servos together.this way you can see that the servos are not drawing too many amps and figting each other! you will be amazed on the amprage drawn by a single servo that isnt matched properly!!! too many amps can cause a lock out and you will loose your bird......or possibly burn a channel up in your reciever....I made this mistake when i first started gangihg servos together.....

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | MOST IMPORTANT 1. ADJUST WITH PROGRAMMER 2. CHECK WITH TRANSMITTER 3. GO BACK TO #1
