| I am new to building and flying large scale planes. My experience with RC planes has been with 60 size sport planes flown with a simple JR sport radio, receiver, a 4.8V NICD battery and 5 or 6 analog servos. I am now preparing to assemble a H 9 27% Extra 260 with a saito 180 engine. My question is what do I need in a transmitter, receiver, servos, batteries, switches etc. Do I need analog or digital servos? Do I need one or two receivers? How many and what type of batteries? 4.8V or 6V? What is BAT Share? How many switches/charge jacks? What is a Deans Jumper? What size and type of wire or servo extensions? Do I need and what is a Smart Fly Power System? What is and do I need a regulator? The instructions for the match box that I purchased for the elevator servos says that it can be powered either through the receiver or from a separate battery source. What are the advantages of each way? The six channel JR Sport transmitter that I have does not provide for differential on the ailerons. Do I need a different transmitter or can I accomplish differential through a matchbox? What is fail safe and do I need this? Finally, this transmitter provides no way of mixing rudder to aileron, throttle to elevator, rudder to elevator, etc. Do I need these capabilities for this plane? What else do I need to know to prepare this plane to fly? As my experience and knowledge is very limited, I would like to keep the system as simple as possible with a prudent I toward cost but yet sufficient. Your help and input will be much appreciated. welcome ok lets see you do not need digital servos for this plane although they have better holding power they are not a absolute. there are some very good analog servos out there. only 1 receiver is needed for this plane. you can go with either 4.8 or 6 volt which ever you wish. however if you use 6 volt you then will need a voltage regulator, unless you use A123 batteries. bat shareis when 2 batteries are used to power up 1 item meaning 1 receiver or 1 power supply. 1 switch with charge jack per battery a deans jumper is a wire that changes lets say a jr connector to a deans style connector. the instruction manule will tell you how many extensions and and how long will be needed for this plane. no you do not need a smart fly power system for this plane. as for regulator see above. the easiest way to use the matchboxes is through the receiver. it is not nessasary to use a different power supply. if you plan on staying with giant scale then you will indeed need a better radio. mixes are very important. failsafe is if a receiver looses a signal the the receiver places a preset position to a servo set by the user. loose signal then the throttle servo goes to idle , preset by you the user through the radio. the only other thing you need to fly this plane is someone at your field to assist you in going over this to make shure it is safe and flyable. whew did i leave anything out????

Okay wow alot of questions. Umm, I think that a 180 will be a little underpowered if your looking for 3D flight. The 180 might make it a good sport flyer just my .02 but the rest. Digital servos won't hurt, plus you can use on a gasser if you decide to go that route. 1 Reciever is fine. 6 Volt Lipos. Some people may bring up A123 from what I've heard they work really well. If you do use lipos get a regulator. You don't need Bat Share so don't worry about it. 1 Switch if using 1 reciever pack 2 if your using 2. 3 if you want to go with a gasser and if your using 2 reciever packs. Don't worry about a deans jumper just a connection type. JR Gold series extensions or Hitecs work really well. No power system is needed. I use the Super reg check on there website it lets you use 2 switches and 2 batts for reciever. Regulator for Lipos is manditory unless you want the plane to blow up. Some people can get away with out one but use one for safety. You don't need to use the Matchbox depending on the reciever your using. You can program your mixes in your radio. You can use that radio but it's not the best choice. New technology of the 2.4Ghz radio is an excellent choice I would use the DX7. All the radio you would need. $349 If you get the DX7 failsafe is built in. Great feature. If you lose power or your signal then it goes to a defualt setting. Now this is just my opinion. Go with a gas engine. Plenty of extra power I would recommend a DA 50 or a TOC 53. TOC 53 has more power but weighs a little more and costs less than 400 with the muffler. DA your spending close to 600 before you have the muffler. Digital servos Hitecs 5845's I think are good choices. Or the number is close to that. But 180 oz's of torque if you go gas. If you get the DX7 get the super reg. 3 Fromeco Lipos 2600 mah. for reciever 1 for ignition. Other than that prop and spinner. Again this is just my .02. If you need any other questions answered then just shout.
