Easier to cover. Harder to see. I would recommend at least a two color scheme. Bright colors are easier to see. Red and Yellow make a combination that is easy to see. An easy scheme to start with is one color on the fuselage, one color on top of the wing and a different color on the bottom. This will allow you to at least be able to tell if you are upside right or upside down.

Default First Radio

Hi, I’m just starting RC flying and looking to buy a spread spectrum system as my first radio. I’m considering Futaba’s 7C FASST (when it becomes available) and Spektrum’s DX7. I’m leaning towards Futaba’s FASST, it seems more reliable with its frequency hopping and custom developed hardware. I think this is a really decisive factor. However, I like the DX7’s comfortably larger screen. I’d like to know all about the differences in features and how they affect me in terms of what and how I fly (I’ll mainly be flying fuel powered aircraft, fixed and rotary, but I’ll concentrate on fixed for now). Because I’m just starting, I don’t understand a lot of what I’m reading in both radios’ specs. Again, I just want the differences.

Another system I also considered is Futaba’s 9C Super. But I drifted away from it because I want a spread spectrum radio. So for clarity, is a FASST module/receiver setup the same as an originally designed FASST radio leaving the factory with built in FASST? Is that arrangement aimed at a buyer in the market for a brand new radio or at current 72 MHz flyers looking to upgrade economically? I may not mind putting forth the cash for a 9C, its price is not too far away from the DX7’s after all, but I don’t want to invest in what may become not ‘current’ very soon. And a FASST 9C doesn’t seem close by at all! At least the FASST 7C is on Futaba’s website and intended for early summer (I can wait for that one).

Looking forward to everyone’s thoughts,
Aly
