Sad but true.
Good example of how most humor is rooted in some minor bit of truth!

If you're looking at 50cc aircraft and considering composite aiframes... don't overlook http://www.bvmprops.com They have some nice schemes (built by Extreme Composites). I just finished the 2.6m Edge 540 a few weeks ago, my first composite. Of course, I have no idea how the plane is on hangar rash yet, but it is an amazing difference to fly one of these, compared to a wood ARF. I don't know how firm their 50cc prices are, but they made a terriffic deal for me on the 2.6 edge... give them a call if you're interested. Bob Violet is great to work with, and he's been in the business since it started.

In a 50cc size, there is about a $400 difference between wood and composite pricing. I think I could iron a LOT of ultacote for that kind of money!

Don't be fooled by Compy's low pricing on the 2x2 planes... there's a TON of work to do finishing them! You have to mount the motor dome (insane), and you have to cut ALL of the servo holes in the wing and fuse. I guess for $400... you get what you pay for.

Good luck!

Bob & I both want to say "Thanks reyn3545 !" for the head's up.
I'll give it a hard going over and call him! Look pretty good right off the bat. Humm, Wonder if I can do a " pick up" since we are in the same area code!??

Good Luck. They were runnign a REAL sale on their 100cc Edge a few weeks ago.. only on the Castrol scheme... it was under $1000. I don't know if they still have them or if you can fit something that big in your car. I have a Navigator, and can fit it in with the stabs mounted.

He will be able to answer all your questions and recommend the best set up for the plane you are purchasing. Best of all it can be one stop shopping since most everything you need to outfit the plane he stocks in his shop.

Best of all when your 5 year old leans on your canopy and pushes it in to the point of not being able to make it look acceptable. He will ship you one the same day so your plane doesn't look like sh*t at the IMAC Event. LOL
Looks like Ray is going to help me get my Yak canopy and frame. He seems like a really nice guy. I will get the Yakky fixed and me thinks a 3.0 Extra 260 could be in the works...

After you get the 3.0 Extra, you'll probably want to unload that old beat up JR Scheme Yak.... I'lll give you $3K, and throw in a tube of loctite for your new plane!

Any other first hand owners of 50cc composites care to respectfully chime in? (thanks pepatrick & crhammond ) I just can't haul a 100 cc. / > 74" fuse from wheels to V.fin. (w/rudder removed)

Given the challenging nature of this thread's purpose- the demeanor exhibited by everyone has been fantastic! You guys really are great! Thanks

FastnLow - 48%!!? WOW again!

Mike, You know my planes...I like to keep them in beat up shape. I need to hook up with you to get the receivers...just has not been good flying weather lately...tomorrow might be a little breezy..but at least I have been able to get a lot done on my trailer.

No hurry on the receivers.. oh, I actually have 3 of them if you are interested. I got a few flights in with the Edge on Thursday afternoon, but this weekend and next weekend are probably out for me.

As for the Yak, even "beat up", its still the best looking plane at GMA! Sounds like it will be back in tip top shape pretty soon.
