Looking good guys, do you think the weight of the carbon reinforcement and glue might be about the same as the foam removed ? I've done a lot of foam cutting only to find minimal savings.

Thanks
Albert

I agree Albert. The only time I do it is if I'm a bit tail heavy and I've done everything else to move the CG forward.

Got a question: Are there any quality differences in these 2 kits worth mentioning. Wood selection, foam cutting, fiberglass, prints...I'm very familiar with the Aerotech kit and have built the 40% Yak they offer. Was wondering if Dalton is similar or maybe a level better???????IM's work also, thanks Walt

The only CF on the rudder will be a 3/16 strip on both sides of the trailing edge. The 12" X 48" of .014 CF sheet I have weighs 6oz. I don't think this method will drop as much weight as what Tony does but I don't want open bays when the plane is coverd. It looks like I can get about 2oz out of the tail and about 6-10oz out of the wings. My main objective with the wings is to get any possible weight out of the tips. I flew pattern about 15 years ago and the honeycomb wings were noticable lighter than the solid core wings but they did not have any CF in them.

You should be building me a kit also~ for when I come to the SHARKS IMAC this year.

The AF isn't letting me move back for at least 1 more year. I hope both of yours fly as good as mine.

--Worm, you should have no problem with CG by putting servos in the tail. My 300 balanced pretty spot on.

Hey Dale,

The only differences that I am aware of are the wing is lowered around 3/8" to 1/2", the turtledeck is shorter, a 300 canopy and cowl and the fat leesburg(sp?) rudder.

JP,

When do they use "a 10cc syringe and a blunt 18 guage needle" in the hospital? I would be on the floor passed out if I saw that damn thing coming towards me, wow thats big. I have to get some of those, does clean work, like a caulk gun.
