Ward, I know you were joking but you would be surprised how many morons they have working in the hospital. A couple of weeks ago we were informed that they were doing away with the blunt tip needles you see in the pic and replacing them with some plastic POS. Some idiot tried to give an IM (Intramuscular) injection to a patient with the blunt tip needle. First thing I did when I heard this was to grab a couple handfuls for the shop before they were all gone. The blunt tips are ONLY for drawing up meds.

Here are a few pics of how I use the CF on the rudder. The rudder weighed 4oz before any foam was removed. Initially I only took foam out of the rudder and not the vertical fin. After comparing my rudder to Jeremy's I decided to remove the foam from this area. Weight savings went from 3/4oz to 1 1/8oz with the thicker foam in the vertical fin. I added 1/8oz back with the CF and glue for a total savings of 1oz. Not sure how this compares to the mods Tony does cutting the foam and balsa out after it has been sheeted. Anyone know what weight is saved by doing this ??? Also in the last pic, While the glue is drying make sure it is in the chucks and straight or you'll have a nice banana rudder that is permanent.

Here are a couple more pics. First couple pics show the rudder sheeted and ready for leading and trailing edges to be glued on. Next couple pics show the wing and stab tubes set and the phenolics being glued. |
