John/Levi - I went back and looked at my notes and my hatch prior to painting/covering was 19 oz. I didn't weigh the entire plane before paint/covering because my scale tops out at 5 lbs. Plane is looking good - how much flight time will you have before Tucson?!

Looking forward to seeing you out west, John.

hope to get 30 flights on it, which should be enough, I had 3 flights on the plane I flew last year before the shootout...seems to be a trend...see you out there bro!

Hey John, you need to lay off the DP and Dew, your camera work is a little shaky. Lookin' awesome. I wish I could come help you guys for the last few bits.

Those of you going to the TAS will be in for a shock, the pictures do not do this plane justice. I got to see the plane in person last weekend, it is a work of art. Levi (and John) are outdoing themselves for this one. It may be last minute, but they are not sparing a single detail.

LOL.... Paul makes it sound like he stopped in and stood around to watch.... The aluminum hatch washers were his doing, as well as the rear elevator servo access hatch. John has lots of friends helping out on this one....

I'll shoot some more pics later on when some glue is drying or something... Pretty excited about the weight reduction without going to any extreme means. The plane is still fully sheeted, and all the flight surfaces are solid.

Here's some shots from a side by side of the First Fuse and the new one. They are at the same stage and the weights were 4 lbs 5.25 oz for the original and 2 Lbs 14.5 oz on the second one. The hatch/canopy is ready for covering/painting at 14.2 oz

I drew the coutouts up in CAD and can share the .PDF file with anyone wanting to make their building a little easier.... just PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send it off. it's on a 36x36 sheet that Kinkos will print for a couple bucks.
I would love the file if you can help. I have a 260 and am planning on getting a 300 for this fall. should be the same pieces so i think they will work out fine.

thanks in advance and i love the build threds...they give me ideas for my next Carden!

LJJ, I just found the .PDF you sent me and it didn't come out right. When you get a chance, can you send me another one? Thanks much. mndbndr3d@ca.rr.com

Levi,

I had a friend of mine cut out the parts with his laser cutter and we reduced the motor box by 1.3lbs. this is really amazing. I figure I can reduce the tail by about a 1/2 lb and still come in at around 38 pounds. That was my target weight and if I can keep to that I will be more than happy.
