Default Comp-ARF 2.6 260 Kiwi scheme build

Alright guys thought I would post my build with the Comp-ARF 2.6 260. This one is going to be built extrememly light for the DA85. I have flown this combination before and it is an insane freestyle machine! Heres a list of the various components i will be using:

-DA 85
-Fromeco Relion 5200mah reciever pack (only one)
-Fromeco Relion 2600mah ignition pack
-Fromeco regulator and pin flag switch
-5x Hitec 5955TG's (will most probably be switching to Futaba 9156's when they get here)
-Dubro 32oz fuel tank
-Dubro 24oz smoke tank (only need four minutes of smoke)
-Kavan 5" wheels (lighter than the dubro but at the sacrifice of durability)
-SWB 1.5" arms all around
-Nelson ball links and turnbuckles
-Futaba G3 reciever
-Intairco whip antenna
-Dubro super smoker valve

I have been building for two days now and have finished both elevators and wings, made up the custom tank tray, mounted the undercarriage, done the cowl and the canopy. These things build quickly! heres a few happy snaps during the build:

If there are any parts that people would like covered just let me know

Good stuff Chris . At this rate you should have plenty of holiday time left to build mine as well .

First question, are the fiberglass control horns sold as an upgrade kit to replace the phenolic ones? Also, with a single 5955 on each aileron, do you think it's worth adding an extra control horn so you have one horn either side of a ball link?

Cheers
Jeremy

A few details on the custom tank tray I made. All made of 3mm balsa sandwiiched between some lightweight fiberglass and weighs 30 grams lighter than the stock tray but can hold a smoke tank as well.

Hey Jeremy,

Yes, the fibregalss horns are sold as part of the upgrade kit Howie does, the only part he doesnt have is the fiberglass upgrade for the rudder horn. The upgrade kit contains all the Nelson ball links and turnbuckles neccessary for your setup. As for running two horns, it definately won't hurt to run two horns but I don't think it is neccessary. Although what I did do as a safety precaution with running one servo per aileron is I made a 5mm balsa sub rib to sit in the wing and minimize flxing in the wing skin near the servo. I will post photos of that as well as templates tomorrow.

Nice Chris. Is this what you will be using at the Callenge instead of one of your 3m 260's?

If all goes according to plan Matt, this will be the one. It just has the energy and agility (as well as a blistering roll rate) over the 3m, well thats what I found when I flew the original 2.6 260.

Rib templates and piccy's as promised. With the sub rib, it must be sanded until it is a comfortable fit in the wing, you don't want it so tight it shows bulges through the top of the wing. Its tacked in place with thin CA then a fillet of Hysol is run all the way around. I've also attached pics of the Fromeco regulator voltage adjuster I quickly soldered up just to make setting the voltage a bit easier.

Looking good so far Chrisby, did you do anything with your stab and rudder hinge or just fitted stock? (bearing or bushes)?

Also, what did you do to retain the tubes?
