  1. Build and finish for under $10,000 dollars.
  2. All up flying weight less than 100 lbs. so it will be AMA legal.
  3. wingspan 236"
  4. Length 231"
  5. Power 3W 342cc
I will post more pictures during the week

This is why Bob was reluctant to talk about the 40% 260 he did and I bet the reason why he hasn't talked much about this project. If you are scratch building the plane it can be done in the 10K neighborhood. I think Bob has more than proven his building ability. No one should dowbt this project until he is done.

Let 'er rip Bob!

The only thing Bob is that if you had decided to just do a 100% Edge I could have helped you with the cowl, wheel pants, and canopy.

I seem to remember this before on the last build. I also seem to remember that the plane was within an ounce or two of the DESIGNED weight. Bob tear this one up for the record books. After the heartache of staud. years of building without getting to fly this will be your revenge. Good luck and post when time allows or get a live web cam wait scratch that just post a bunch of pics of the plane.
GIVE EM HELL BOB

Hey Bob...

Please consult with an Aerospace/Mechanical engineer on this project! (Unless you are an engineer that is)
It has the potential to be several hundred pounds (700 pounds would not suprise me!)
As I am sure you fully realize... this project has a lot of potential to cause damage/injury....

A better project then a 260 though could not be found!!

I believe he is going for 100lbs. Seems really light but he has the resume...

Just a question. Won't something this light fly strangely at this size... I mean will that motor be able to pull such a large airframe at a decent speed even if it is light as a feather I am sure it will have a large amount of drag.

so your cowl is going to be 32 inches wide by my calculations and that motor swings a 35 inch prop...

Im just curious how you got to 100 lbs?

power plant with mufflers = 25lbs
landing gear is at least 15lbs landing gear, wheles an and axles
5lbs of servos
7lbs for power system
10lbs of monokote and we havent even gotten to an airframe yet...

i dont know if your doing foam core wing, but i just did some calculations and your going to have 70 cubic feet of foam, considering its solid, if not I hope you have a balistic parachute for when the wings fold...

foam is 1 lb per sq foot! I dont see how you could possibly think your going to get this plane in at 100lbs...

sheeting is going to weigh 11 lbs by my calculations...

are you doing foam core wing with sheeted surfaces or open bay built up wings/stabs?

what size prop are you planing on useing?

whats your plan for servos/batteries for control surfaces?

how are you covering/finishing the structure?

what size spinner are you going to use? 10" on a 35" prop? belt reduction?

how are you planing on building a canopy? that alone is going to weigh 10 lbs in itself...

not at all trying to be mean or cruel, just want to know how you think this is even possible...

Thanks for the input kid, I will take that under advisement.[/quote]
