Default 80% Extra 260

I am receiving many PM's, emails and phone calls about rumors of an 80% 260 being built by me. Well; it is true, are you all interested in seeing the build even if it takes a year or more?

Bob

KIDDING!!!!!!!! Of course! I just saw Hempel maiden his 52% 260 and it was impressive - flies unbelievably well. I can only imagine how an even larger one would fly.

The primary goals for this build are,
  1. Build and finish for under $10,000 dollars.
  2. All up flying weight less than 100 lbs. so it will be AMA legal.
  3. wingspan 236"
  4. Length 231"
  5. Power 3W 342cc
I will post more pictures during the week

Now that you have mentioned it I think we would all be ticked if you didn't share the progress.

Let's see.......Your 40% weighed 28 pounds. An 80% is really about 4 times the volume but the gear won't weigh 4 times as much so I am thinking your goal is under 100 pounds!? That would be awesome!

Dan

Edit: Dangit Bob, you posted while I was typing!

Dude, i hate to pop your bubble, but it takes 10k to get a 40% in the air... that 3w isnt going to be enough to 3d it the way you would want, if at all, realisticly i would say 30-40k to get it in the air... your servos, power system and motor are 10k alone, thats no building materials wood anything... food for though...

You are so right, The weight battle of this entire build will be with the scaling rule for sure. Every oz. will count.
