I just finished my EF 88" Yak a couple weeks ago. Equipped with a DA50, KS-1060 pipe and a full smoke system. HS5955-TG servos on all surfaces and Duralite batteries throughout with regulators.

Flies great.

Hey guys.

Pretty keen on the 88" Yak.

1 question though. Would it be hard to do a removable rudder mod? Coz without it I doubt i would be able to transport it (no trailer)
If anyone has suggestions/has tried I'd love to hear it!

I'm set up with a removable rudder. Been working good too. I have posted elsewhere but finding it would be a challenge! Ha Ha!

I simply drilled an extended "hinge pin" aligned hole through the rudder top and used music wire the same diameter as the original hinge pins.

Carefully drilled out the hinge pins after installing on the tail fin only.. You slide the music wire (capped with a small bead) down from the rudder into all the hinges and then secure into the wheel collar.
The wheel collar was soldered to a strap that allowed a fixed installation to the fuselage. BTWay, I do all this installation before I remove from the truck bed!
I also hid some magnets to hold the loose pull cables when transporting.
There is a trick to aligning the wire into all the hinges but I'm out of time! I'll have to write more later if you want!

Glad to help.
I learned too if the tip of the extended hinge pin has a slight bend at the very tip, you can rotate the pin with the round bead (at top) to help point the tip toward the hinge knuckle for alignment. If you tignten the wheel collar too tight on the tip one time, you will achieve the slight bend I'm taking about!
(I never remove the long "pin" from the rudder )

Now ya going need one of those Mega Pilots to really top er off nice!
Shipping runs about $25 solo to Australia.

Good luck with your new bird!

Hi guys,

I just toasted my 87" Ultra RC yak and was considering the H9 Carden as a replacement but after seeing the delivered product in that build thread, I think NOT! I've always had my eye on the Extreme Flight 88". Looks like a high quality product. Any experience between the two?

I have both and you will love the 88" larger airframe that makes it stable in wind.

You cant go wrong with the EF YAK largest in its class and in my opinion the best one out there.

If you like the 87", you will love the 88". The quality of the EF 88" is much better than the 87" Ultra RC. I like the fact it doesn't have much foam in the fuse. With the 87" if you accidentally dripped gas or CA on the foam it would melt.

Thanks for the input! I agree with you about the foam in the fuse! It's been a pain to deal with. I'm hoping my local hobby shop can order the EF to avoid the steep shipping charges. I had a chance to see Matt Szueber's (converted to electric) at the Riverside IMAC and was really impressed with the quality. I'll be sticking with the DA-50 though!
