ok guys here goes. i bought the wildhare 87inch sukhoi called and ordered it from tom very nice guy to talk with. was on my door in 3 days wow.. i just unpacked it tonight to inspect it. and what a suprise. there was not even 1 wrinkle, not 1. this to me was nice to see and the first. ok the fuse is very well built with its own cannister tunnel built in. it looks to be very beefy and you can see the glue .there is more than enough room in the fuse for anything you might want to do. it came with some hardwear but not everything to complete the model. (i knew this going into it). it did not come with wheels, controlrods, control horns or fuel tank. i would at least like to have the control rods (just me).it did come with a tail assembly. the finishing matched up very well except the cowl is a shade off. no biggie. the wings were packed in wingbags very nice touch, and nice wing bags as well. the cowl is very nice to attach no screws on the outside. no more cracking glass. wood ring on the inside for attachment, is nice touch. its apoxied in place with the blind nut installed. i like this. so far and i havent done anything but inspect it i like it. i think is a very well built plane. there is only 1 thing i personaly dont care for is the landing gear. although its the shinnest ive ever seen its a 2 piece set, but it does have a center brace and more than likely wont be a problem for me. i just dont care for a 2 piece set. (thats just me) if this plane flys 1/2 as nice as it looks its going to be a big winner its really a hot looking plane and i will be proud to show it anywhere. ok on to the pics. the build will contiue tomarrow as everything has shown up. the pics will get better and please ask for anything you dont see. again a big thank you to wildhare for providing a great plane at a great price

I have one on order from the Australian supplier and I already have my DL-50 just awaiting the plane, thus I will be watching this thread really closely. The thing that I will really be interested in seeing is how you mount your motor and what length of standoffs you need. Cheers Stephen |

ok guys a little more progress. after flying and instructing today. and aftera few honeydos i got some free time. i did step 1 and 2. step 1 is to look over all the parts and test fit averything which i did. but iwont show pics until its time. ok step 2 is mounting the motor. first thing i did was to stand the plane on its tail as i always do, then put the standoffs on the motor and fine the dead center of the firewall. notice the right thrust? the motor is just sitting on the firewall. (do not knock it off)after measuring i mark the standoffs and place cowl on to make shure i have the center. after iam shure i have center i then remove everything and find the center of the standoff holes and drill. then i put the standoffs on the fire wall with fender washers on the backside and in this case i needed to add 4 washers to get the clearance on the front of the cowl for spinner backplate. (by the way this is also the way the instrustions said) was supprised to see someone else do this. ok heres the pics, again if you want to see something that i did not take a pic of please let me know. i have not yet cut the cowl for the muffler nor have i set up the servos. still have a few things to do before i can get back to the plane. get lotto, wash dogs, etc etc. will try and get a couple of more hours in tonight, next is the landing gear if i can find someone to do a vid i will more than happy to post it. i cant fly and video at the same time. forgot to say the motor standoffs are the ones that come with the motor.little tid bit... if you line up the center of the choke butterfly and the screws that bolt the carb inplace over the X made by the factory you will have found the center of the thrust line, as this is the center of the crankshaft as well. save ya some time. this applys only for you guys using the DL motor.the calliper is used to make shure i dont overtighten the standoffs and throw off the thrust of the mount.

Thanks for the photos, the plane i looking really great, I just want to confirm that you used the standard 2 3/4" stand-offs with the washers only (It is a bit difficult to see the measurement on the vernier calliper)? What spinner are you using and could you also take a side photo with the prop, spinner back plate and cowl on so that I could get an idea of the clearance between the cowl and prop. Are you using the standard muffler or are you going to install a canister. Thanks Stephen |

FYI about engine mounting. We now have templates for the DA/DL-50 and also the TOC-53. Just line up the centerline marks and drill the holes. The whole engine mounting thing can be done in 5 minutes. TF |
