Hi Roger, I may be getting a little ahead here, but how do you plan on keeping the wing tube from rotating when flying? I noticed you have a socket thru the fuselage. The way I do it is as follows: The tube slides thru the plywood, all 4 pieces, then I construct two ea. hardwood clamps and glue them half way to the inside of the inner plywood piece, there is a slit with a screw to tighten down on the tube. If anyone would like pictures of this method, please let me know.

Once the wing is in, and the wings bolted on, does it matter if the wing tube rotates, not that it will??

Can you explain?

I was thinking the same thing ,,,,,, so I'm with you Roger it does not matter ,,,,, that is if it even does rotate and I don't think it will .

Hi Roger, will be glad to explain. The tube will most certainly rotate due to, I guess, vibration of the engine, and when you have a 10 year old plane you will see that the tube has rotated, and is, in fact, wearing out the sockets in the wings, the plywood sides, and the inner plywood the tube goes into. Hope this explains the problem. Just learned this from experence of flying this design for 23 years.

Hello Everybody

I've been wondering about the wing's main spar. Obviously with the vertical grain balsa webbing and the hardwood spars, the main spar is very strong. My only concern is that the spar is not continuous. It is interruped by the foam rib. I'm wondering if this is something to be concerned about? Perhaps because of the length of the rib, its not a weakness at all. Any thoughts? Obviously building a wing with a continuous front and rear spar would greatly complicate the building process and perhaps would not buy you anthing.
