Thanks Jack, and thank you for good plans on the Laser. I would love to build the 40% but will have to check on the weight because I would like to use the same Turbo prop engine for it.

The engine I'm using is practically half the weight of a 150 so by putting it forward a few inches as I have done on this one, I could keep the weight down to a minimum and remove even more weight for structure since there is absolutely no vibration.

Also thanks to Hayes Hutchins for loaning me the engine at first and making a good deal for me to own the engine , he has been there 100% of the time during this build also.

Roger, my 40% is 28 lbs. It uses a BME 115 which is a 4 1/2 lb motor. Love this Laser.

Oh my god, 28 lbs, it must be a real floater, I have to look into this

It just dawned on me, with such a light engine, unless you installed the engine quite a bit further forward then the plans calls for, you would have to have added weight in the nose to balance it.

Is this the case.

With the 34% and the turbine/equipment at basically the same weight as your engine, I installed it 2" more forward then the plans called for and I still needed a bit of weight in the nose, how did you do it?

Carbon spring tail wheel, tail wheel stearing used tubbing, no springs. Rudder servo was just behind the wing tube. From the wing tube back it was all built up with stringers, on sheeting. Tail brace was kevler strings no wire.
Roger, my motor is as per the plans, it is not moved forward. Yes it is a floater, on a windy day I can almost hang with the CUbs.

Cool stuff,
Thanks for the information.
I am seriously thinking of putting the T 34 on the back burner and doing the 40% laser for the turbine again. I simply having too much fun with this laser now, I can imagine with the bigger one.

By the way I Laser is the best flying airplane I have had so far...

You know Roger that building the 40% will go faster then the smaller one. You already know everything you need to do. You could be flying inside of a month.
