Default Planes plus 27% EXTRA 330 (new page)

well the old forum was getting long and im getting ready to maiden my my plane so i decided to make a new thread. when everything is done and said i will have a video and a whole report on this plane. btw a manual is on the site now! tonight i will take pics of the engine and pull pull instalation. the pull pull is prob the worst design on the plane. using the stock hardware, it is next to impossible to get the right geometery! i found that the the holes were a 1/4 inch lower then were the clevis attach to the rudder. instead of scraping it and going with another set-up or making a gure hole, i took a piece of small clear fual tubing and lubed it with vaseline and put it in the exit hole. this way it does rub the fuse and fray. yes there is a slight rubbing but i think i can fix that. on the brison, my friend took a piece of metal and fabrictated a piece for the choke. i dont want a lot of extra weight so i opted to do a manual choke however im still figuring out how to make it look nice. Im also in the process of locating some taller gear im thinking about TNT, for now ill use tall foam wheels! All in all this plane is a very easy build and the quality is great but i think planes plus needs a little more work to smooth out the problems of a $450 dollar plane. For the price i paid it was an awesome deal!!!!!!! Carla and greg are very easy to work with and will help you out with info.

If i were to distribute this plane i would mod it like this:
  • Shorten the firewall by an inch, make room for standoffs.
  • include more hardware, like a tank, pushrods and ball linksswitch the servo mounting location to either inside the elevator, in-front of the stab or higher up. another idea is to include long horns for better geometry.
  • Include longer gear
  • Include pull pull and pre-drilled holes for the rudder so we dont have to modify or use diff hardware.
  • Drill and include ball links
  • include a manual in the kit
  • the servo mounting tray is too weak im going to have to re-inforce it
  • include two more cam locking bolts for the wing
  • Make a slot for a canister (not really needed)

You really don't need two more cam locks. My plane came with bolts for the rear. Cam locks are necessary on the front for accessablity reasons (no way to tighten a bolt). I agree with everything else though. Of course if all of this was offered, you wouldn't be buying a $300.00 ARF Good luck with the maiden. If the weather holds here I'm maidening mine on Sunday.

you right about the cams but they are so much more convienent! We paid 300 but the arf is now 450. At that price, it competes with all other brand name arfs. this is a great plane with great construction and materials however it has some wrinkles to be smoothed. I like the machined and anodized horns but there no good for the elevator and rudder!

I heard that about the horns. I used them on the rudder, but I had a large aluminum servo horn so I'm getting plenty of throw. I replaced the ones on the elevators w/dubro horns. I didn't know she raised the price back up on this plane. At that price a hardware package is needed. All in all though, the quality is pretty decent. I wish the canopy wasn't so brittle, but other than that I think I got mine for the right price.

I have yet to order everything. i figure i should see how it fly's before i spend 200 more upgrading it. once i fly it i will scrutinize everything good and bad even on the flying... tom i should get a faily accurate weight. right now i just have to put a throttle servo on and finish up little odds and ends. i find that after each time i crash i get better at not only flying but building too. this airplane is going to be clean on the inside as long as the outside. in about a month i will order a mejzlik 22*8, petes 3.5 " carbon prop, tnt carbon gear, cermark anodized aluminum switchs, wing and prop bags, a louver for the cowl, an instrument panel and new horn for the rudder and elevators. total will be about 250-300, im just not going to drop that much if she happens to crash right now i dont even have a spinner lol.

I was gonna try to come down to Bloomington on Saturday, but I'm not sure if we are paving or not. Lost a day last week because of the rain & might have to make up a day this weekend. Besides, I can burn a lot of fuel over at Rod's house. I hope the weather holds for you guys on Saturday, should be a good time.

Maiden went well. Pull-pull came undone once (forgot to pull the fuel tubing over the clevis duh) and the elevator screws came out on the last flight, but my DA ran like a top and the plane flew really well. Man this thing is light.

You can use loctite on the servos (blue is recommended for metal gear) I didn't loctite the screws that hold the whole horizontal stab/elevators. I will now.

hey guys, ZAC here, well tonight i just finished it all up. right now its looks like a house just finishing "construction", all i have to do is "clean it up, and decorate lol if you know what i mean. My friend should be coming over to finish up all the little details but tonight, i mounted the ignition, mounted the throttle, did the steering on the tail. no all thats left is to, hook up the choke through the cowl, do all the programing and well you get the picture. its 99.9% there. pictures will follow soon. maiden is still schedualed for saturday with a video. all im worried about is the ignition and throttle servo being fairly close however thats nothing that cant be fixed.
