Okay guys I'm gonna pop my Carden Cherry on this 40% extra 300. I hope to start building soon but right now I am getting my shop in order. I just built 2 new benches, a 8 foot work bench and a 8x3 foot build table. The build table is made out of 3/4 inch Birch wood and the top is perty close to dead nutz flat. I am still doing some research online about build methods / tricks. As I said this is my first build ever, luckily there are some real cool guys int he STL that have offered to nelp a noob out, so hopefully with a bit of luck and a lot of glue I can get a bird that dont fly 1/2 bad. I will apologize in advance, at times the progress of the build will be slow work is killer right now. Some things I need to figure out : 1. What glue to use and where. 2. Best way to lighten the motor box : Thinking of following what walt did here : - I just have to make templates BBW 40% Carden 330 "Mid Wing" Last edited by crash-n-burn; 11-05-2009 at 10:12 PM. |

Looks good Dan. Give me a call if you want to use my 300 motorbox as a template for lightening. I haven't glued the fuse sides to the motorbox yet so you can still use it as a template to trace the cutouts. I used basically the same pattern as Walt. You can come over when you have time if you want to.

New builders are a very good thing. Talk to any avid builder on FG and you'll find that talking builds and swapping tips is there passion. You'll love doing this build, there's no possible knot you can get yourself into with the folks here and with Dennis at Carden Aircraft. Anything you need shoot me a PM and l'll help the best I can. I personally know I speak for a lot of other guys on the boards that have the same mindset. Good luck with your build, be patient and ask if you got a question, Walt

Looks like you're off to a good start by building a couple of good workbenches. ![]() I'm doing my first Carden builds myself......................two Carden 35% Extra 260's. I don't think I would of even considered tackling them if it hadn't of been for the great build threads (especially Walt's) here on FG. Good luck, take your time, and enjoy the journey. Jim |

Thanks guys Walts threads were a major influence on my decision to build he just makes it look soooo easy. I have taken a lot of ideas of walts that i will hopefully be able to incorporate into my build. Thanks to aviti AKA tony he was nice enough to give me the lightining templates for the motor box. Also i will be getting a great deal of help from Rich Mowrey AKA Rich M. Rich has built a ton of Cardens and has been nice enough to show me the finer points of Vacuum bagging the wing panels as well as covering and painting. Rich really does some great work, his skill will be a huge help in my build. I am going to get started shortly, today my wife made me paint the bedroom |
