Default Re: Probuilt (Wild Hare) 28% Extra 300LX

Progress is still a little slow lately. I need to order some hardware to mount things like the canopy undercarriage etc. Only down side to this ARF (so far).

I have mounted the ailerons to the wings though. Same process as the elevators and rudder. No real dramas there. Although once glued on, the range of movement on the controls surfaces is extreme. Those double beveled edges work a treat. Mine will be setup for IMAC so extreme throw is not required. Servo power is though which brings me to a question.

Will one 5945 be enough on the rudder or do I need a 5955 or two 5945's?? I have seen a WH 28% edge 540 with two 5945 on the rudder. I think this may be an overkill. Also is it worth using a bell crank or single servo rudder tray to take the load off the servo output shaft? On my Ultimate I have the pull-pull cables striaght to the servo (5945) but the rudder is alot bigger on the extra.

I am thinking of using dubro HD control horns all round (dual on rudder), and dubro 4-40 HD ball links and kwik links on the pushrods. Will this be ok? Also should I go to aluminium servo arms as well? In the past I have been using the HD plastic ones. Which seem to work fine, so is it worth using aluminium ones. If I go to aluminium arms do I need hex head screws for the servo shafts?

Rusty, 1 5955 would be plenty on the rudder. I used to use 1 JR8511 on the rudder of my 2.3's. Aluminium arms would be better then the heavey duty plastic ones. You dont need hex head screws for the output shaft but they are easier to work with

Would have to agree with Matt, 1 5955, enough grunt, and cheaper than 2 x 5945

Thanks guys, Where can I get the hex head screws for Hitec servos?

Matt,

Where you running a bellcrank setup for the pull-pull or was it straight to the servo??

Should be able to post pics of my progress tonight or tomorrow.

I have installed the ailerons and aileron servos also. Servo installation was easy just needed to trim the holes slightly to fit the 5645mg's in. I will snap some pics and post soon.
