Man.. seeing this would make me park the finished plane in a sealed Bunker... The skilled labor, the finess, the little subtleties... I have no problem KILLING arf that were slapped together... but MAN.. I'd have shaky hands, 40,000 butterflies, and wobbly knees on the maiden of this level of home brewed plane. NICE!!!

Wing bolts are for babies... Were not using any. Ok. This I am sure is going to start a conversation. Thats fine but, Lets keep the thread on track. I have personally witnessed two stab failures this season on 40% Carden's that I cannot say that the L brackett didnt fail. It may have, It may not have. We'll never know. In talking to Walt about how to avoid what possibly may be the problem we decided to do away with the L bracket all together. What Walt is going to do is make a root rib with attachment tabs that will screw into the side of the fuse. Lots of GS planes use this attachment method and we feel with that, an anti-rotation pin and the bolts going into the stab tube this method will be bullet proof. From Walt: This rib is 1/8th birch aircraft ply. Its just a touch smaller than the outside parameter of the foam un sheeted core. My intent is to sheet the stab and allow the sheeting to extend beyond the raw foam root. I want to have an inleted effect with the installation of the root rib. I also want room for epoxy to fill the entire parameter of this rib to get 100% on the glue bond. This will not be glued on till the stab is sheeted. After this I will add the leading and trailing edge to totally in capsulate the rib. The anti rotation pin will be directly above the front attachment screw. There's a 3/8ths block behind the forward ear to accept this pin..

I like that modification. Much like how the WH planes mount the stabs. A very SOLID setup and eliminates much more slop than the other setup. Your attention to detail really deserves an ARCOM.

This will primarilly be an IMAC airplane. Zero's are not a good thing in IMAC but in this stage of the game Zero's are good.
