Any body interested in seeing a Carden 32% Yak build? I picked up this kit about a month ago and have been slowly working on it in between other projects around the house. I've accumulated a few pics during the build process. Last edited by jmiracle; 10-08-2006 at 10:08 PM. |

Alright then...here we go. I usually start with the motor box....cut out the lightening holes, add a little epoxy, a few builders squares and a bunch 'o clamps....shake gently and..... I plan on running cans on this one, so I've added a balsa floor just below the wing tube. I'll build a tray for the fuel tank to sit on just above the tube. |

with the motor box out of the way, I start in on the fuse sides....I love these....so easy it's brilliant. Here, both sides are complete and ready to be joined to the motor box. Last edited by jmiracle; 10-08-2006 at 10:23 PM. |

OK....now I have a slight gap in my pics....i got distracted with installing a dust collector system in my workshop along with some other little home projects.... so here is the fuse being fitted and aligned with the motor box...then the completed assembly on it's gear and waiting for foam. |

with the fuse assembly at this stage, I started on the foam. I have all of the foam skinned already except for the wings. Those will be skinned this week. Here's a couple shots of the wings being prepped for skins. On the last couple 35%'s I've built, I've used just one Hitec 5955 servo in each wing panel with excellent results. I'll be doing the same thing on this plane. Here is one wing panel with the servo bay cut out, and the phenolic tube glued in....once the glue is cured, I'll be ready to glue on the skins. |

The stabs are already skinned and have the root caps installed. I plan to get the wings to the same point but with TE and LE strips added, then I will set the incidence on all, adding AR pins to the wings and stabs.

So this brings me up to date...tomorrow night I plan on vac-bagging one wing panel....I'll take a few pics of that and get them up. I'm hoping from here on out, I'll be able to post pics pretty regularly until it's RTC. At that point, I have another 35% Carden 260 coming that I will jump on next. I plan to do a build thread of that one as well....hopefully a little more complete than this is so far. |

Yup....i did all that last night! The wife has always said I'm really fast!! ![]() You know....i have about 200 flights on a 35% single-servo aileron setup....stupid simple and strong enough to hold up to anything I throw at it... ....but somehow I think snap-a-saurus could rip the ailerons clean off! |
