Not much action in the last few days, however I finally got the canopy mounted in the bloody frame! Hooray

Just for Cookie, I did tint the canopy with the VHT window tint.

As for actually mounting it.. I didnt really take many photos of that process , I used silicon, and the jig that TMAC suggested to me. I mounted the canopy to the frame and filled it with scrunched up newspaper to get it to evently 'puff' out against the frame. Worked a treat in the end.
If using a jig, dont put to much pressure on the canopy (just enough to get all the sides to snug up against the frame is enough) while glueing it, otherwise you could still distort the rearward part of the frame causing ill fit to the model.
Probably wouldnt be neccesary to use newspaper/pressure if glueing in a 260's canopy or the 2.6 size models either. The sheer size of the super xtra's canopy makes it awfulll 'floppy' until its glued in.

Nice day to day, though getting hot so heres a few pictures of the model all mocked up, with some FG bling and with my new Plane Wrappers cover on it.

OK guys, there hasnt been much action on this thread lately, due to Christmas/New Years and lastly my PC at home taking a dump. (R.I.P)

While I have been away from the computer I have reinforced the gear plate, built the ignition plate which I have mounted th two ignitions and the ignition batts on, the tank tray is glued up and ready to go in.

This kit is really an easy build from now on in, the trickiest thing I have come up againts is deciding where to mount the throttle servo.

Once I finish building my new computer I will be able to post some pictures and keep this thread updated a little more regularly.

A few more.

One little trait that is pretty handy with the 3W motor is that the right cylinder is in front of the left cylinder compared to the other way around with the DA motors.

This means that with the 3.5 degs of right thrust I have in the model the cannisters both run back about the same length in the fuse.

Also should promote better colling behind the right cylinder as its not hard up close to the firewall.

Last little bit of work for today.......

I made templates to cut the cooling holes out in the bottom of the fuse. I am thinking of using black fly screen or similar to make the holes look dark.

The pipes are now in permanently, tomorrow I will work on the tank tray and the throttle servo. If I get time I will try and figure out how to put together the SWB rudder tray.

Hey ben make sure your ignitions have flowing air cooling. They can only handle a 60 degree temperature range max, this is in the manual, 3W kinda recommend on top of a motor box with direct airflow blast from cowl intake off crankcase. (ignitions can fail and have and heat is one of the main suspects, especially in our drought nation). They always kinda been telling us this with this old pic on their site, showing ignition cooling has as much priorty as cylinder heads. Maybe other brand ones dont heat up as much, I dont know, but its something to keep an eye on hey while keeping the power leap of a CS.....

Looking good benny , when do you think the maiden will be??

One thing I noticed from the pics is the right hand cylinder rear plug lead is touching the carbon plate. I would try and reposition the plug lead or wrap them in some form of conduit to prevent any rubbing.
