Sheet sides with 3/8 balsa on outside and glue in plywood reinforcement plates on the inside to accept wing and tail tubes. The picture with the plate for the tail tubes is out of sequence but shows how/where glued. The other plates are for the wings before installation. I cut lightening holes in the bottom half before installation.

The overhanging sheeting is so that it will extend over the rudder post and provide additional gluing support when attached.

After sides are framed up and sheeted, install over plans, pulling together at tail.

Make sure that the wing tube is equidistant from the tail on both sides so the wing is straight.

Glue in F3 at rear of motor box including additional 3/8 square balsa to lock it in nice and tight.

Glue in cross bracing.

After cross bracing is installed I cut out and glued on additional reinforcements at each joint.

So now I am ready to start working on the underside. I intend to make it rounded like the Cardens are but will be using formers and sheeting instead of foam and sheeting. Here's where I realize I made an error on F3. I had to add a piece on both sided to keep the rounded shape from the bottom of the cowl- see the piece added as shown in the oval in the picture.

Glue the stringers in place, assemble sheeting, trim, sand and glue into place on both sides.

Next I began to build the bottom of the fuse from the engine box/landing gear plate back to the tail. As you can also see, by this time I had sanded the fuse sides and the bottom flush with the front of F2.

Nice thread Dave! Well thought out design. Seeing as how I've seen the finished product I'm really interested in seeing this build thread as it progresses.

With the tailwheel plate added, the bottom is mostly done and I can proceed to the top of the fuse.
