Completely fake.
1) he spins completely out of control to begin with. That would NEVER carry him on the trajectory shown.
2) The amount of time he spends in the air (falling especially) is WAY to long. Antigravity anyone???
3) All the thrust is WAY above his CofG He would do a forward flip if anything. (seen mythbusters?)
There is obviously some cable or crane system to lift him up. Look about .5 seconds into the flight. He is accelerating BACKWARDS quite rapidly. Then look at the apogee. He hovers there for a second and drops very slowly. Someone at that height would hit the water very hard, and fall for a much shorter length of time.

I agree it is probably a fake but there were a few problems with the mythbusters test as well.
1. They had to short of a thrust period. If they would have made a nozzle for the bottels it would have lengthened the thrust period and increased the amount of thrust.
2. The bottles were, possibly, too small, they look much larger in the video but I could be mistaken.

They did show that there is enough thrust but the thrust period, without a nozzle, is to sudden and short and that, as stated earlier, the person would just do flips because of the C of G. I think that if possibly done correctly you might get a very short flight but as far as this video is concerned and the figures they claimed.....BUSTED!!

Trying to talk MadMAx into much the same thing. My idea is to use the 5 foot nitrogen bottles, perhaps 15 of them. 4,000 PSI per, should deliver the desired affect. I thought launching the guy in that vid over water was dangerous, could have drowned!! I'll be blasting Max off in a Wally World parking lot,,,,MUCH safer. I'm looking for a much more vertical trajectory.

Haven't worked on the re-entry thing too much. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I think utilizing several JetCat P-70 turbines as retro rockets during re-entry "should" slow the descent some, however, I recommend the use of a trampoline as the final method of absorbing descent energy. We would have to give him some method of controlling his trajectory so that he does not miss the trampoline. Obviously that would end with tragic results and of course we don't want to involve him in any injury that may prevent him from flying in the next Nexstar Fun Fly event.
Kids, do not try this at home. We ARE professionals.
