I've been to Deetroit and Lived in Memphis. I can personally say Memphis has by far the worst drivers of the two. I was on the south loop of 240 (in Memphis) and got hit in the side by a non english speaking person within 15 minutes of arriving. All the Policeman could say was "Welcome to Memphis we got great drivers here"

Yah, I never did understand the arches over telegraph. Everytime I went to the airport we passed those things.

So, then, these Colorado Natives I live with would be like goldfish in a pond full of Piranahs. Here, they think "Yield" ALWAYS means "Stop", 55 means 40, if their turn signal goes out while they're driving, they pull over and call Triple A to have their car towed, if the light is already green before they get to the intersection, they slow down as though they're sure it will turn yellow soon, and when it goes green again they interpret it as a suggestion to go ahead and start moving - they often look as though they are waiting for the light to get greener!

Yep, they would be TOAST!!!!!

In all fairness, though, we have some of "them" here also. Always watch out for the old man with a hat

Problem here is it's a military town, so you have other driving styles to deal with. To me, being from California, Yield means "find a way to squeeze in there", yellow means "GUN IT!", turn signals don't create the space I need to move over to - I do, so what's the point? At an intersection, I'm looking at cross-traffic's lights, so that when theirs turn yellow, I know to put my left foot on the break, right foot on the gas, and stall the torque converter and try to get that perfect "400" light (drag racing thing)! Oh, and speed limits are only for when my radar detector says "slow down, dude - five-o up ahead"...

Pretty much. I literally see an accident almost every day here - I mean, people blatently turning left in front of someone or changing lanes and sideswiping the car next to them. Any time you see a rear-end collison, you can practically bet that it happened at a "Yield" sign, and the guy up front is a Colorado native that misinterpreted the sign, and the car behind is a Californian that knows what the sign really means and was looking back at the traffic he was about to merge with and ran into the Coloradan that stopped at the "yield" sign...
