Actually it really starts easy from a hand prop...just one flip does it. My Dad and I have a '47 Vagabond PA-15..we have to start it the same way...you can't compression start it in flight because it exceeds the airframe specs..(pointing the nose down and diving is a bad thing) Good news is it is such a STOL that we land it on sand bars all the time to go fishing...you can set it down anywhere with a wee bit O crab...
