A Marine stationed in Afghanistan recently received a "Dear John" Letter from his girlfriend back home. It read as follows: Dear Ricky, I can no longer continue our relationship. The distance between us is just too great. I must admit that I have cheated on you twice since you've been gone, and it's not fair to either of us. I'm sorry. Please return the picture of me that I sent to you. Love, Becky The Marine, with hurt feelings, asked his fellow Marines for any snapshots they could spare of their girlfriends, sisters, ex-girlfriends, aunts, cousins etc. In addition to the picture of Becky, Ricky included all the other pictures of the pretty gals he had collected from his buddies. There were 57 photos in that envelope along with this note: Dear Becky, I'm so sorry, but I can't quite remember who the hell you are. Please take your picture from the pile, and send the restback to me. Take Care, Ricky |

Thats kick ass! Seriously I had buddies who got screwed over when we got back. Returning from Afghanistan my Platoon Daddy and his wife went splitsville. Some other dude's wife ran off with more or less everything he had. My bestfriend's fiance broke it off with him when we were in Iraq. Then of course I got a Dear John like any other soldier, airmen, or marine prolly does when they leave for the Army. I never got that girl home before 3 a.m. Man did I give up a lot for my country...lol. The cadence goes: Ain't no use in going back Jody's got your cadillac Ain't no use in calling home Jody's got your girl and gone Ain't no use in feeling blue Jody's got a sister too! |

To call it off with a guy risking his life for all of us.. just proves to me that WOMEN are a DIFFERENT CREATURE. WOMEN.....Can't live without them, and the law says you can't live with them, chained up in the basement... DARN!

I got my first "Dear John" letter when I was 17 sitting in a barracks at Ft. Benning GA. in 1981. I got the second at age 18 sitting in a barracks on the other side of post at Ft. Benning. Looking back now. I'm glad that I got both of them. For all the the good folks serving now, I thank you for your sacrifices. I for one know how much you have given and how much you risk to serve our country.

any of you guys see the movie jarhead? the scene where they get all the letters from home and them getting dumped? that happens A LOT. I am at Ft Hood, the largest base, and you wouldnt believe the stories of all the joes that get divorced, left, whatever while they are gone, it truely is sad.

I got one of those letters when I was stationed at Howard AFB in Panama. After reading her letter I decided that I would leave it at that and not bother writing her back. About a month goes by and I receive another letter saying that "she's not sure if I received her first letter but that shes was calling the relationship off". Again I don't bother writing back. Long story short, I ended up with four Dear John letters from the same girl and in the last letter she said that "she missed me and hoped that I was okay". WTF is that about? Anyway, her breaking up with me was a good thing because Panama turned out to be an awesome tour and I was plenty "busy" so she was easy to forget. ![]() I come home two years later and run into the girl that dumped me. We talked for a while and she ends up asking me why I never wrote her back. I told her I saw no point in it...that it was her decision and I understood. I couldn't believe it when she told me: "I thought I meant enough for you to at least write me back, I was hurt that you never wrote me." Now that is a woman for you.
