Atleast what your trying to do isn't a total waste....That was like taking 4 hundred dollar bills and lighting them on fire.

You know, this kid is just trying to be fair. He needs your help! Not everyone around here came from "daddy's money." Help him out, support his cause. Isn't that what this site and hobby are all about? I've had the worst 2 years of my life the last 2 years and I'm an old guy at 44 years old. My son (who some know is Matt and is 7 years old) was abducted by his mother. She falsely accused me of physical and sexual abuse, and I spent ALL my savings looking for him and fighting for him. Not many of you guys even knew the story. I found my son, Thank God, but the cost and heartache broke me. I saved my whole life, yet these things can hit any one of us in our lives! I've never asked for a dime from my pilot friends. But, the ones who know me best know why I've been "missing in action" for the past few years. My point is, don't judge until you've been put in a position to judge. Silver spoons are not passed out to all! Support your fellow pilot friends whenever they are in need for whatever reason. You never know when you might need the same in return!

Greg I agree not everyone comes from "Daddy's money" but why can't he save some money, sell something or heres a new idea.... get a job for the 2-3 months hes not in school?? Most guys his age do, I know I sure did, and I'm just now starting to be able to afford a DA50 and all the crap for a 30%. Why is it that we have all become so lazy that we can't pay for our hobbies ourselves and not ask others to pay for it.

Chris,
He should work to pay for his stuff. My comment was not totally meant for him but our other friends who post here as well. These kids better work or we're going to have grass that even our own kids won't cut. My parents' never bought me anything and I guess that's the point. And I was never given anything by somebody else either. I worked for everything I've ever had by myself. My point was, bad woman can't take everything you have! Listen up youngsters, don't let it happen to you!

I feel for you, Greg. But your situation has nothing at all to do with a kid that wants really expensive toys and is unwilling to lift a finger to provide for himself. Right now this kid should be learning that you can't have everything you want, so make do with what you've got and find a way to enjoy it. Instead of that he is learning that the world is full of suckers, and you can have whatever you want if you can take advantage of enough of them. The world has enough con men already.

Well said Chris. However I feel that I need to add more as I have been pretty critical of Vic.

To all who are encouraging vic here, if he wants to get a DA 100, he should work for it. He doesn't need to be lazy and watch everyone pick up his slack. If this DA 100 is his dream, encourage him to pursue it, don't pay him to be lazy.

Vic, I don't have anything against you, but look around this site. Look at all the folks that work for what they have. Only a handful of folks fly sponsored. If you don't have the financial backing for going this big right now, then what will happen if Mr. Wang forgot to glue some elevator parts together and the plane crashes on the third flight? You will be out of everything you have. If you aren't able to support this addiction on your own two feet, then you will be no better than the folks who spend everything they have on alcohol, illegal drugs, porn, etc.

I'm 19 and I work for just about everything I fly. When I crash planes, I fix them. When I want a new plane, I work for it.(usually, I have been given some older .40 size stuff though) "Daddy's money" has never paid for anything that I fly. Most of my planes are "re-kits" or are used. I would love to have a 30%/DA 50 right now, but I can't afford it as I'm in a possition where I can't get a job right now, so I won't be flying anything nice like that. I have dreams also. Right now, I'm looking into building a 55% Hostetler Giles. I don't have a job right now and I don't have the backing for it, but I should have that next year if everything goes well. Ok, I'll stop rambling.

Chris

I do work, maybe you didn't listen to the video. I worked for a month straight when I was a young kid washing cars around here to buy my first trainer. My parents set me a goal for school, which I met, and they got me my first gasser, the 30% Yak NOTE airframe only. I worked that summer to buy the engine and servos for it. Crashed, radio failure. My friend gave me the other plane I had which was a Velox, for VERY little cash because he did not want it. I put all my stuff in it and flew it till I sold it to fund the 35%. I have the carcass of a 33% Cap that still needs repair work on it, and once it's done I;m giving it out around here. Currently I work to maintain myself while I go back to school on January, and to top it off, a semi hit me about a month ago which totalled my van. Now I need to get a new car, because I need it for work, and to transport myself, and to top it off all the contests of thiis year are flying by and I still can't fly in them because I don;t have the engine, which is all I need. Now tell me that what I'm doing is a bad idea to try and raise funds. All the people I see online give nothing back to the donating community. You see guys blowing up computers, smashing xboxes, destroying Ipods, paying their mortgage, but you see none raffling a 100 size airplane to the donors once the goal is reached. Tell me again that it's a bad idea. Seeing how these guys managed to collect anywhere from $300 - $5,000 to do stupid stuff, and getting 5 times the lack of support that I'm getting, I'm not discouraged one bit. For those of you who watched the new Fast and the Furious 3 Tokyo Drift, it's like Han says, "Life's about taking chances, you go after what you want, and you never look back."

I'm not bashing on anyone, but it bothers me when people judge me as a slacker without knowing anything about me.

If your car is destroyed and you need a new one THE PLANE SHOULD BE FOR SALE!!!!!! What is more important is being able to pay your bills and going to school. Not going to some stupid contest.

Dude, sell the 35% and buy a car! Don't live your life based on what everyone else will do, live you life based on your principles.(unless you like begging) Once you have the income, a DA will come easily.
