If you get the urge for a smoke go get some of these instead. This is how I quit a few years ago.

I quit Oct 27 2003 cold turkey. I had one last smoke before my surgery to remove cancer and never looked back. I found the hardest not to smoke was when i was drinking(socially). But i battled through it and today i don't even want one then, the urge is gone. You can do it. Good luck and keep it going as time goes on it does get easier.

I hand roll my own cigs. Some people say that helps to not smoke as many, but that is not true. About 4 years ago, I got into the habit of about 5 to 10 of them a day and really felt the need for them if a little time went by. I decided it was making me feel pretty crappy in general and quit cold turkey for a couple months. Then I started back up at 1 or 2 a day and have been doing that for the last 4 years.

You can just have one a day.. I am not sure how unhealthy it is, but it's better than 10 a day!

I can't imagine what it must have been like for you older guys. I'm only 21 and chewing on the gum already.

Cold turkey 22 years ago, thru the pack in a garbage can and went into the bar at the course to settle all my golf bets. My first hour as a non-smoker was in a bar and drinking as never given me the urge to smoke, everything else has! Just keep telling yourself your not a smoker and don't even think you can get away with one drag.

Vic- Congratulations dude! It takes allot for most to go the route you are headed.
One bit of advice from me por favor-
NEVER give in to the the first "one won't hurt" deception. It CAN!! Not only did I start back up after one innocent " hey, let me have one of those - and a light" (after being a non-smoker for 5 years or so) I ended up smoking a pack a day for ANOTHER TEN YEARS!!!
Never look back - or take the free one!
Make a bet to someone you don't really like that you absolutely would HATE to lose too - include you favorite Plane in the deal- if that is what it takes.

I am still hanging in there since I started this thread in Oct of 2006.
I get the urges every now and again but have managed to resist the temptation.
NOW I NEED TO GO ON A DIET THOUGH!

Good luck to everyone. You CAN do it!
